Poseidon Trailer

Poseidon trailerThe new Poseidon trailer is online now... and in my opinion it looks pretty good. I haven't been at all excited about this project. I usually just can't seem to muster up any enthusiasm for remakes anymore, and to be honest whenever I read news about Poseidon I would usually just think to myself "Haven't we already seen Titanic?"

However, the look and feel of the Poseidon trailers have been slowly winning my over. They to establish a real sense of fear, an ominous dread if you will about the whole senario. And really... how wrong can you go if you've got Kurt Russell in your movie? So yeah, you may now count me among those who are mildly looking forward to Poseidon.

This played before V for Vendetta and got ZERO crowd reaction. Not so much as a murmur after it was over. It did nothing for me. Titanic was enough. And why is Emmy Rossum in yet ANOTHER disaster movie. This and the day after tomorrow doesn't exactly make a glowing resume.

Movies with lots of water and drowning generally freak me out but I might actually go see this one. Great cast (Kurt Russell AND Richard Dreyfuss!), good director who obviously has a bit of a fetish for water and a solid story. Doesn't look like it has half of the love story crap of Titanic or the hokey sentimentality of Perfect Storm, which is good. As long as it isn't 2 1/2 or 3 hours long I'll go.

Seriously, what's with this shit with all movies, even stupid sex comedies and stuff all feel that they have to be two and a bit hours long. Bring back 90 minute movies!

You know, the reason I want to see this movie is because of the old film. One of my earliest memories was watching the Poseidon Adventure with my parents. I hardly remember the entire film, but I really want to relive that movie again. Sure this movie may not be as good, but I still want to check it out.

My Reaction: Does it look like a good movie? Yes. Do I want to see it? Probably not.

Hopefully this will be better that the rushed up 'let's beat 'em to the punch' miniseries last year w/Rutger Hauer --and nobody watched.

Yes, I'm happy to see Kurt Russell in a action-thriller-drama. It's where he really belongs, in these kinds of pictures. Yeah, I liked him in "Miracle" but that was another Mouse House sports formula movie which only a handful of people went to see. "Dreamer"? The kiddies didn't go to that. Kurt needs a hit. So does Josh Lucas, to keep momentum going from earlier this year (in a sports film, no less).

Depending on when it opens and who the competition is, I'll give it a decent chance.

BTW, with the way ticket prices are now, I strongly disagree with Marty93. Two hours for my cash. No more. No less.
