Michael Biehn in Grind House?

Over a year ago I wrote a post about Michael Biehn, and how I thought the guy should have been a Hollywood A-List Mega Star. It never panned out for Biehn... due to some back luck... and due to some bad choices... but I still think the guy is amazing. As a side note, I STILL think he should have been the guy to play Cyclops in X-Men (yeah I know he's older... but who cares).

Anyway, now the good folks over at CHUD are reporting that Biehn may be up for a lead role in the Tarantino/Rodriguez horror "Grind House". Here's what they had to say about it:

Robert Rodriguez is currently shooting his segment Project Terror down in Austin, and it seems as though he'll have none other than Terminator-hater Michael Biehn among his live humans. Sure it's not exactly an A-list catch, but both Rodriguez and Tarantino are renowned for reviving veteran genre actors, and tossing Biehn in the mix is a minor thrill for those of us who spent the 90s wearing out VHS copies of Aliens. And Hog Wild.
Man I really hope this one turns out to be true. I'd LOVE to see Biehn on the big screen again.

He was really good in The Terminator, Terminator 2 and Aliens, but his acting talents really shows in The Abyss (special edition) as the psyko Lt. Coffey.

Back in the early 90's when James Cameron (huge spider man fan) was making Spiderman, he had Biehn in mind for the title role. The project never got of the ground, and in retrospect maybe it was for the best.

The Abyss (SE) is a great film by the way, that deserves a "retro review" from you guys! ;)

From this post, you'd think Biehn had never had another role after "The Abyss". One of his best post Cameron was Johnny Ringo in "Tombstone".

Hey there! They are filming Grind House down the street from my house in Georgetown, TX. We were there with Rodriguez and Biehn the other night.

They particular scene they were filming involved blowing up an old police car in front of a jail while zombies are running around and chasing everyone.

Very cool to hang with the crew and see Biehn back where he should be horror/action!

This is disapointing, only because my master plan in life was the revive the career of Michael Biehn.

How did this guy not break out after being in "Cherry Falls"?

Although he was the same dude for a few movies in a row (Terminator, Aliens, Navy Seals, The Rock) he is an awesome character actor.

Would love to see more

This is easily the best news i've heard in....a damned long time.

He was in this Hong Kong film (more like a joint production between, HK, China and Taiwan) called Dragon Squad last year. As the bad guy. So, it doesn't matter, if Hollywood doesn't want him, the Chinese viewers might learn to love him. Who knows? What David Hasselhoff is in Germany can be what he is in Hong Kong, Taiwan or China.

Well, this is great news! I have only ever wanted to see him working, because the guy deserves some success. I will keep an eye out for it. :)

I have actually been working on a screenplay where I envisioned Michael Biehn as the lead. Hmm...I wonder if he would be a believable small-time money launderer / pornographer that gets in over his head dealing with Middle Eastern arms dealers and terrorists? ;-)
