Holy Crap!!! The Movie Blog Audio Edition Wins Podcast Of The Year!!!
I got home just a little while ago and there were about 20 emails waiting for me from people congratulating me on the 2006 Weblog Award win for Best Podcast. I thought they just misunderstood the previous post and that the awards haven't been announced yet... but then I checked out the official 2006 Weblog Awards (the "bloggies") site... and sure enough...
THE MOVIE BLOG AUDIO EDITION HAS WON THE 2006 WEBLOG AWARD FOR BEST PODCAST!!!! Holy Crap!!!!! We even beat out my favorite podcast "This Week In Tech"!!!! I'm totally stunned!!!! More than stunned actually!!!
What makes this EXTRA special was the high calibre of the other nominees who I really suggest you check out sometime:

Thanks to everyone who listens to us and voted for us. I think this marks an important shift in Podcasting on the internet. The most popular and successful podcasts have always (at least up to this point) been tech related shows (which only makes sense since techies were first to adopt the new technology). But now... a MOVIE site has taken the first Podcast of the Year award for the Bloggies. Podcast are developing a wider audience than just tech related... and I think the wide spectrums of the nominees reflects this.
So, congratulations to all the other nominees for their AMAZING shows... and thanks to all of you for your support. I think it's time to crack open a drink!

Holy mother-freakin' heck! I guess all of those lemon-tarts I was handing out must have paid off!
I'd like to thank the Academy, for being a part of making the movies that we bash on this podcast. I'd like to thank John and Doug, for allowing me to share a nice glass of pop with them on Monday evenings, while I tell John that his taste in movies sucks. And I'd like to thank you, the listeners, for listening to us faithfully, even when your mom or pastor tells you that The Audio Edition will corrupt your morals and give you insatiable cravings for nudity.

Grats guys! I always enjoy listening to the show.
I did want to point out that I enjoyed FF: The Spirits Within as well. If they took away the Final Fantasy part of the title the movie would have done better. From my experiance, FF has always been fantasy moreso that Sci-Fi and that was the one part that took me away from it as a Final Fantasy movie.
Halo and most video game adaptions are going to be horrible because as you said, fans wont allow changes and in a movie you have to make changes. Thats why its an adaptation. There is no direct representation. Just like every game based on a movie has MORE in it be it villians or locations, the movie has to use less but say more and it falls short for the fans and the general public is either in the dark or the movie is so toned down its childish.

Ive subscribed to a bunch of podcasts over the year but the movie blog is one of the few that I still subscribe to because it is not just information it is also entertainment. I started out listening to cinecast because they have some insightful discussions on movies but their presentation is like a dry cracker. I need to hear people getting lively and cracking jokes from time to time you know?
