Brad Ptt Gets His Gay Role?

A short time ago we posted a story about Brad Pitt wanting a gay role for himself because he thinks it would increase his chances for an Oscar (which I personally have no problem with). Well... it looks like he may have found the role he was looking for.

The good folks over at Cinema Blend had the follwoing to say:

Pitt may have found the project of his desire in The Front Runner, a novel by Patricia Nell Warren. The story is about the love affair between a male track coach and his head male team member. Nothing is confirmed yet, but all signs are pointing in that direction.
I honestly have no idea why some people don't like that Pitt is dong this. Let's look at some facts here:

1) Pitt is in the position in his career that he can pick and choose whatever project he wants

2) EVERYONE likes recognition in their choosen careers. Baseball Players want a World Serise ring. Football players want a Superbowl. Writers want a pulizter... why is it so bad that Pitt aspires to win an Oscar???

3) If anyone had two movies in front of them that they had the choice of doing, and all other things being equal, you believe one of them has a better chance of winning you that Oscar... then I suggest that ANYONE would choose that one. Why shouldn't Pitt fairly have that option too?

Bottom line... Pitt has done everything already EXCEPT win an Oscar. He believes he's talented enough to get one (and he's right) and that he just needs the right project. I have no problem with him seeking out the kind of project that he thinks will give him the best chances of that. And anyone that thinks any other actor in Hollywood would do differently is deluding themselves (just my often flawed opinion).

I read the book in highschool, and as i recall, it was a bigtime tear-jerker romance. Should be interesting!

I am sure this isn't what you wanted, but you have moved up the list of best use of unintentional humor.

Brad Pitt/ gay moive/ this line:

I honestly have no idea why some people don't like that Pitt is dong this.

Perfect!

If he does a gay role, it won't guarantee an Oscar. Brokeback won ZERO acting awards throughout award season, so I don't know what the hell he's thinking. Just playing gay isn't enough. Staying home and banging Angelina is better than a damn statue, anyway.

Ok so Brad wants to be gay in a movie for the sole purpose of winning an oscar??? Riiiiiiiiight!!! Ok if I was to make a gay movie it be set in the 1960's or 70's and a white man would start a realtionship with a black man. So you have both racism and homophobia, thats something Brad should go for, something gay but something so much more.

He should play a guy in a gay relationship with a Palestinian terrorist who are both dying of AIDS and being detained in Gitmo.

Here would be my argument John.
I agree that most people would choose the role with the Oscar nod attached to it, BUT...

Since you like sports analogies so much, what about the player that just stays with a team out of loyalty and maybe even takes less pay because it is just a team he likes better or doesn't want to move somewhere else? They are in the minority to be sure, but they do exist.

I think the same may go for many actors. So you're statement that "ANYONE would choose the role" might not be quite accurate. I would like to think that if I were a big time movie star, I would do the role that I'm more interested in; not necessarily the one more likely to garnish me an Oscar. I'd probably do what you said, but I'd like to think, anyway, that I'm above that and just want to do a film that interests me or that I think people will like more.

thoughts?

How sad...

Hey Brad, maybe next year you can find a role as a terrorist-turned-transvestite living in an Amish village.

It's no wonder an intelligent alien race has yet to contact us.

Maybe Brokeback didn't get any acting awards for the guys playing gay... but Capote did!

By the time the movie comes out, gay love stories will be passe.

I'm sure that when Mr. Pitt receives his Oscar for this role his speech will include the line:

"I never intended this role to be a social statement..."

Like that fool director of BrokeFag Mountain tried to say, Ang Lee.

Bradd, too bad you're selling out.

Dont any of you remember... Brad Pitt already played a gay role with Tom Cruise in the film adaptation of the Vampire Lestat. Of course all of the homoerotic essence from the Anne Rice novel between these two were deemphasized. I dont think he won any nominations for that vehicle.

I think he should play Charlie from Gordon Merrick's The Lord Wont Mind. LOL
