Spiderman 3 spoilers or misdirections?

spideynew.jpgI can't help but think that Mr Raimi is sitting there laughing right now, as he sips a beer or a nice glass of wine (as I am, Casillero del Diablo Carménère 2003), I can't help thinking that he's surfing the web and laughing. Why? Well we're all mad on these supposed spoilers and plot revelations, yet I think he might be engineering them.

Cinema Blend has news that Theresa Russell is in the cast as the character Felicia Hardy. You a Spidey comic fan? That mean anything to you? Let me elucidate...(See, that wine is good...I don't think I've ever written that word before!)

According to Comic Book Resources, Russell's character will carry the name Felicia Hardy, and all the weight that goes with that. To those who know Spidey lore, Hardy fell in love with Spider-Man and made an agreement with the Kingpin that gave her super powers (under the name Black Cat) so she could hold her own with Spider-Man. The two were romantically involved until Peter Parker chose to leave the Black Cat for Mary Jane Watson.

So are we going to see Black Cat onscreen? Mmmm...perhaps Raimi is just pitching in named characters here and there to set up future stories and lend credence to the whole Spidey universe without actually using them. Personally I think that's really plausible, considering the latest Harry rumour\spoiler too. Before I go into that one let me also suggest that I don't think Raimi is stupid enough to follow the Batman track of piling in relevant characters galore.

Now, the latest possible spoiler for Harry...

IESB have a reportedly real live accurate quote from a crew member revealing what Harry will do in the next movie...Beware, potential spoilers, so turn away now if you don't want to know.

(CAUTION Spoilers ahead)

Rob, all the assumptions that Harry Osborn is the third villain the Hobgoblin are all wrong. Spiderman finds himself out numbered in this one. When everything seems to be at its worst for our hero, he finds himself an unlikely ally, Harry Osborn. Peter Parker's best friend will come to his aide.

Okay so let's look at this. Harry will come to Spidey's rescue? Did he finally realize his father was a kook? Apparently so. Here's more...

We will see Harry battling his inner demons to make the choice between his father's legacy and his best friend. I will fill you in more later but gotta go, crew call in 10 minutes, Sam doesn't like it when anyones late! Holla, Peace

Mmmm...sounds possible, but really I've heard so much about this movie Chicken Little could be appearing in it. I don't know, there are reports around that Franco has also been in makeup galore, so is he or isn't he?

I love Theresa Russel. She's a great actress, and she's still hot, but at some 50 years old, I really doubt that her character will be the felicia Hardy (black cat) we knows.

I thought the reason Spider-Man 2 didn't have the Black Cat was because there is not enough time to introduce and use the character and put her in with the story well. I also tought that Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane's personas were mixed together for the Spider-Man movies, and unless I missheard the commentary, why is Gwen appearing in the third?

I think your right Richard, about Raimi engineering all of the rumors and reveals.

This rumor is almost as bad as last spring's Chamelon thoughts.

By the way, when the comics first introduced Black Cat, she did not have superpowers.
What she did was plan her crimes ahead, and create 'traps' through tripwires and other devices. This would slow anyone down who might pursue her. (This includes escape routes as well.) She also wanted to break her dying father out of prison.

Theresa Russell is a good (and underused) actress. I do take a few issues with CBR's "and all the weight that goes with that", because Russell looks pretty darn good for her age. However, I'm not sold on her as Miss Hardy. Y'know who would rock? Trisha Hefler- from SF TV's new "Battlestar Galactica".

But, I do recall that this is the film where Sam strays from the comics a bit. That's already proven with the appearance of Gwen Stacey.

As for 'makeup' on Harry. Does his face change into a Jack Nicolson like Joker but with green instead of paste white or something? Or is he just in some sort of action scene that requires him to get dirty, cut up and knocked around? My take on this is that either he could be the "new" Goblin and got bruises by not flying the Goblin bat board around right..or...he makes up a new 'hero' to help Spider-Man/Peter, only to have the plan backfire and the 'hero' considers Spidey a rival and/or has a secret agenda.

Spiderman 3 starts put two years later after the second movie. You see spider man fighting Electro and Mysterio. Meanwhile a man named, Flint Marko gets powers to turn into sand and morph his body. Later on Spiderman meets the Sandman (played by Thomas Haden Church) while Harry is having decisions about becoming the Hobgoblin. The Sandman (below) is going into space but Spidey tries to stop him. While in space an alien symbiote enters the ship. Peter Parker’s old friend, Eddie Brock (played by Topher Grace) writes a story about Curt Conners being the Lizard. Spiderman helps Curt Conners control his transformation into the Lizard and Eddie loses he job for the papers and everything else. Out of rage Eddie plans to one day destroy Spiderman for good. When Spidey goes back to crime fighting his suite turns black and he is stronger. When he finds out it is alive he gets rid of it. At the end of the movie Eddie Brock (future Venom) is on a ledge with the symbiote attaching to him.
