Richard Donner says no Goonies 2?

Sounds like he is saying no way from the quote he's recently made about the possibility of a Goonies sequel movie, and the comments are sweet music to our ears.

From IGN Film Force through Cinema Blend, is the quote itself:

"We tried. No, I don't think so. We tried really hard. Steven and I, we pitched a couple of things to them and, quite honestly, they weren't right. And we put it aside. If I could ever find a really good handle on a screenplay for it, I'd go pitch it again, because talking about [something] I'd want to see… It's extraordinary. But it's got to be right, or don't do it, because I couldn't believe that movie. It's done to generations of kids what it's done."

Three cheers for Donner. Sure we'd love to see another Goonies, but not a lacklustre sequelised one. Look what Hollywood is doing to the rest of series and possible series lately...and not so lately. They're going for the cash in, and the cash in only, so the idea of a sub par Goonies 2 sounds totally rubbish to me.

Well done Donner for saying no...unless it's really good. Oh I'm torn!

Ahhhhh yes, Goonies!

Goonies is one of my favorite films when I was growing up. Just loved everything about it, and I think this is awesome news that they dont just want to do any sequel, unless its a very good one.

The Goonies has to be one of the loudest most annoying movies I ever had the displeasure of enduring. The constant shouting done by multiple characters at the same time is an affront to one's eardrums.

Ehr Lou, without meaning to offend, how old were you when you first saw the film? It actually is a kid's film.

Guess that is it. I was too old and do not worry about offending - everyone ages.

Funny how I have been able to enjoy other kid movies though.

Yeah but the kid movies you enjoy are considered illegal.
