Walk The Line A Musical???

The one award at the Golden Globes I had a real problem with this year was not the fact that Walk the Line beat out The 40 Year Old Virgin for Best Musical or Comedy Motion Picture (although that in and of itself is a tragedy... 40 Year Old Virgin is by far the better film in my opinion).. but rather this questions:

What the hell is Walk The Line doing in the Musical or Comedy category?!?!?!

It's clearly NOT a comedy. And I'm sorry... but although there are a couple of songs sung at a few points in the film... IT'S NOT A MUSICAL!!!

Rent is a musical. Moulin Rouge is a musical. Chicago is a musical. Gone with the Wind is a musical. Walk The Line is NOT a musical. I guess it's just another excuse for the Globes to highlight the films they want to highlight

i don't believe Gone With The Wind was a musical. but yeah, that genre doesn't quite fit Walk The Line.

Last year, they did the same thing to Ray.

This year...I'm wondering. Was someone afraid Walk The Line would pour out a can of whoop ass on 'Mountian'?

Ray and Walk the Line are definetly not musicals. They're dramas...with lots of music in them.

I think "The squid and the whale" should have won.

I think we could put forward a good money spinner here...

...we could potentially suggest some more movies like this that are coming out (or out now) to be turned into musicals...such as:

* Jarhead
* Wolf Creek (imagine the chorus line to that...pure magic)
* Cheaper by the Dozen 2 (serene sounds of Steve Martin's vocal chords...like a dream...or something)

...and of course

* Big Momma's House 2 (...only one thing to say...divine)

Yep...now that I've got that out of my system, may as well just wait for the drugs to wear off ;-)
