Remington Steele confirmed without Brosnan
I thought the story about a new Remingston Steele was fanciful, but now the confirmation has come through that it's being made and Pierce Brosnan won't be the lead.
Although the story came through Cinematical, the content seems to have entirely disappeared and they only have the bare post left. However it went something along the lines of Brosnan publicly stating that he was involved behind the scenes in a resurrection of the poor mans Bond TV series he once starred in, Remington Steele.
Strange the story is disappeared now, but that's roughly what was being said. After all the abuse Brosnan has been handing out about the Bond franchise, why do you think this move is on? Perhaps a similar move to the original Casino Royale movie...i.e. taking the mick?

Remington Steele was not the poor mans James Bond. The main character was a thief who assumed the identity of a made up detective. It was a series closer in tone to the romantic screwball comedy/ detective/ caper films of the 30s and 40s. It's more Cary Grant and Thin Man.
He said during the NYC "The Matador" junket that Steele was in very early stages, there was no script and if it ever came to be done he wouldn't be playing the lead character, but maybe some cameo.

To the great delight of early Brosnan career fans, the actor recently revealed a secret project in the works at his production company, Irish DreamTime: Remington Steele, the movie. Though the script has yet to be completed, Brosnan definitely appears to have it on the brain, referring to the project two or three times during a 30-minute interview. However, much to the chagrin of virtually everyone, Brosnan is searching for someone younger to play Remington.
“I’m too old to play him right now,†Brosnan gruffly admits. “I’d get myself some wonderful cameo role, and try to steal the third act.â€

Variety reports that Pierce Brosnan will star in The November Man, a thriller based on the Bill Granger novel "There Are No Spies" in his "November Man" series.
Coldly effective but suspicious American spy-runner Hanley inadvertently fouls up a deeply embedded Russian mole's scenario when he warns "sleeping" agent Devereaux ("November") that something has gone amiss in R Section. Rudely forced out of retirement in Lausanne by two hit men, the calm, collected, and utterly cynical Devereaux enlists the aid of former contacts in determining the truth of Hanley's allegation.
A script is in progress and shooting is planned in 2006.
Now this just doesnt make ANY sense.
Brosnan is the Dick Clark of the 80s P.I. shows. He doesnt age. Bronsnan should TOTALLY be doing this movie. Not that I have high hopes for a movie based on an 80s tv series, but really, does it stand a chance without the character that he MADE?
Of course to contradict my analogy, this was the first year that Dick didnt do the "Rockin New Years" thing since Christ was born (on his own anyways, he did make an appearance to countdown the ball)
There's no point to all this now.
Right, what tv show will they make next?
