Date Movie Trailer

Date Movie PosterOh my dear sweet heavens. The Date Movie trailer is now online... and I can now say with all reckless abandon that I think i've witnessed the WORST trailer in film history.

Any Joss Whedon or American Pie fan will probably instantly recognize Alyson Hannigan (Willow, the happy go lucky lesbian witch from Buffy), which is a good thing because I've always found the girl to have a lot of natural charm. But that "pleasant surprise" went down the proverbial toilet pretty damn fast just seconds after the Date Movie trailer started.

The idea is an interesting one. A spoof comedy (with much of the feel of the Scary Movie franchise) that makes it's play off of romantic comedies. Good idea. HORRIBLE job. At least that's the impression the trailer gives.

The film is slated for a February 7th release. I was surprised to read that since I hadn't even heard of this film yet. Now, after watching the trailer, I understand why the studio hasn't wasted anymore money on a marketing campaign. I think they're in "Let's just cut our losses" mode.

So yeah, if you hate yourself and want to subject your brain to the Date Movie trailer, then you can see it here. Good luck.

My favorite movies have always been the Abrahms@Zucker Airplane/Naked Gun type spoofs. They're so packed with jokes that you have to watch it twice to see the jokes going on in the background. And they are relentless. Put Leslie Neilsen in and you've got comedy gold. Whatever happened to Leslie Neilsen anyways?

These new spoof movies are nowhere near as funny and usually revolve around sex or toilet jokes, but they try. Perhaps a bit too hard.

I thought this Date Movie trailer was actually pretty amusing. It looks a lot funnier than the new "Pink Panther" movie. That's for damn sure.

I'll probably rent it one day.

Considering that the average romantic comedy is nothing more than a bad spoof the genre, it's not surprising that an intended spoof falls flat. You've been watching it in one form or another for the past 5 years. (Exceptions: High Fidelity, Bridgit Jones' Diary, Down with Love)

FYI, early word is that it won't be screened for the press.

Make of that what you will.

Wow this is looks like the worst movie in the history of the world. I agree with the previous poster “spoof” movies can be great. My favorite is Hot Shots Part Deux. I think I have found a new all time worst movie. Cool As Ice has now been dethroned.

Sure looks like a lousy flick to me.

I have never really been that big of a fan of the original Scary Movie series. I found the jokes to be overdone and tasteless. But some people like that. I was a big fan of the Naked Gun/Airplane spoofs, so who knows. Maybe there will be less penis/fart humour and more hyperbole of real reactions.

The guy using the nailgun on his head to end the Milkshake Show was pretty funny.

Granted, I will likely watch ANYTHING with Alyson Hannigan in it. I find her beyond captivating and I am a sucker for ANY movie with a "geek to chic" makeover of some smoking hot girl in it.

I sneered when she was sprayd with the hose. Everything else was just :|

I thoroughly enjoyed the part where the workman shoots himself in the head with a nail gun, I think its a really good description of what people will be doing after seeing this film, anyone want to help me stand in the cinema foyers giving the guns and nails out?

Watchutalkinbout, Willis?

fat suits ROCK!!!

still, pretty lame fare for a movie.
Is this what became of the cast of the legendary In Living Color?

is that who's doing this shit?

Airplane was funny because it mocked the conventions of disaster movies. Naked Gun and Scream did the same. They all gave the audience some credit that they'd spot the genre cliche that was being mocked.

This just takes a bunch of movies and spoofs them. It doesn't seem to be saying anything funny about the genre - it just rips off successful romcom movies.

And to make matters worse, it has to POINT THEM OUT in the trailer. Talk about adding insult to injury.

Wow, I agree with you John, that trailer is horrible. No desire to see that one at all!
