im still angry that doug ( or Dr Secret ) hasn't played a game of Halo2 with me ( GamerTag Preview ) but maybe the new year will bring me some luck, anyways...

great audio edition, john its about time you realised SW3 was horrible as doug mentions everytime its braught up, but besides that your lists are spot on

Okay, Doug, I thought 'Flightplan' was a good film. I strongly disagree with you.
I also strongly disagree with you on 'Sith'- although you are right, Vader was dumbed down. I thought it would have more impact if Lucas just left it at the Frankenstien homage.
I'm surprised nither of you picked on "Doom'or 'Alone In The Dark" as some of the worst of 2005. Where's 'Elektra'?

However, I find myself agreeing with John's worst of list. Here's mine:

Now, for the good stuff.

I think '40 yr Old Virgin' has a chance at Oscars (it will compete with Producers in the GG)
-I would gravitate towards Catherine Keener for a nomination. I could see this.

Also, I think Crowe will be nom'd in GG and Oscars. Paul Giamatti will also be nom'd. Giamatti will win, and it won't be easy. I think Mickey Rourke will be nom'd for 'Sin City.' I just do.

Best com for me was...Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy.

Overall, good start to 2006.

Sealer out.

I will try to play more Halo this year.

Too bad about The Ringer. The South Park episode where Cartman enters the Special Olympics was one of the funniest things I've seen on television, so it can be done. This film seems to have missed the boat.

Posted by: Brian at January 3, 2006 02:41 AM

Doug's right about Star Wars, but John's right about Corpse Bride. Both films were so vacuous they induced existential nausea.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Brian at January 3, 2006 02:51 AM

No Bana in Hulk 2?? He's the only reason I would have gone to see it... no wait a minute I'd want to go see The Hulk tear the living crap out of an entire city not another movie with Bana whining the entire time about repressed memories.

I seriously think Comedy Central should file a lawsuit against whoever made The Ringer. They totally took the idea from a South Park episode. The only difference is, I laughed when I watched the South Park episode.

Johnny Knoxville should be banned from starring in a movie ever again.

Doug, I totally agree with you that Star Wars was the worst film of 2005. It was such a pile of steaming, rancid, peanut infested, worm riddled shite that I actually contemplated suicide before the end credits.
Also, why didn't the Aristocrats figure in your best film list, you being a comedian.

Posted by: matlot at January 3, 2006 06:02 AM

Sith as the worst film of the year? To those who believe this is so, how many films did you guys see in 2005? Sheeshh...

To those who disagree, well, the FORCE is with you. ;-)

Well...the Producers was amazing!!!! I laughed my tail off...it was a great surprise to me as I don't particularly love musicals.
and...don't kill me for this John....I wasn't huge on SW3...sorry! I think Darth was destroyed as a character, Padme sucked (her dialogue was abominal)and I think the ending suffered the film even more so. The effects were cool, but that's about it for me.
I simply hate Johnny Knoxville, so I wasn't interested in seeing the Ringer for that reason and the outline just sounded as though it would be an awful movie.

The Aristocrats was not playing anywhere where I could see it.
I have heard great things and if I saw it I think it probably would of made the list. I only mention movies that I have seen myself.

I need to see when I can buy it.

Guys, have you forgotten about Alexander? That movie is probably the worst movie I have seen this year. It was horrible, but it came out during the spring, which is known for crap movies, so maybe it gets a bye. Anyways, I can't believe that didn't get onto either of your lists.

Hey there Aaron,

Yes, Alexander was HORRIBLE. BUT... it was released November 24th 2004, so it doesn't qualify for our list.

Cheers!
