Scottish Knight Rider Kung Fu movie

KnightRider.jpgYeah, I couldn't think how to describe this movie in the title and it does sound bizarre, but an Aberdeen (Scotland) based film-maker has created a Kung-Fu movie combined with the idea of Knight Rider. I posted about this story way back in November of last year, and has now had its official premiere in Aberdeen on November 29th a year later.

According to the Armenian News Networkposting the film-maker Ara Paiayahas titled the movie Night Rider, although IMDB is listing him as the Director for the actual Knight Rider movie!

[Aria] play[s] a double-crossed hitman who is left for dead, but wreaks revenge on his attackers. He is helped by a dying billionaire who gives him a hi-tech car to fight crime. The film has been described as a slick salute to the TV series Knight Rider.

Night Rider even features Ara at the wheel of a replica of the famous KITT car from the series.

He's hoping to take the movie to Cannes and get some interest raised there.

Cult film-maker Ara, who was brought up in Aberdeen, said: "Feedback so far has been very positive. Jackie Chan's writer and producer only had one comment: 'What can I say, another masterpiece'," he added laughing.

It is aimed at the DVD market, but the Weinstein Group, former owners of Miramax, said he should show it at Cannes to secure an international release...Even Jonathan Ross is a fan.

Pinch of salt and all that, but still. Sounds like an interesting take on the movie, and try as I might I can't seem to get hold of any information on the movie or his previous Dubbed and Dangerous series.

The article goes on to say that he managed to get Robert Tai a well known Hong Kong Film Director to cameo in the movie and direct his next, the blurb for which is familiar.

Kung Fu Kingdoms...It centres on a holiday resort where guests practise their martial art skills on robots.

Ara said: "But the robots have been attacked by a virus to make them kill a famous politician. The whole park goes bananas and the robots start killing people. I'm the maintenance man who is left to fight all the robots."

Mmmm...familiar, but as it's being filmed in Scotland I say superb! Now, if he could only get in touch and let us see the movies!
