The Birds remake continues
Just look at some of these titles today on the posts, it's depressing for the movie industry. However, the news from the Producers of the remake of The Birds is that it's still on and that it will follow the original source material. Oh, that'll be okay then!
From Dark Horizons the story goes that...
...rather than being slavishly faithful to the original, their film will not attempt to improve upon the master. Instead, the script will be based on the short story which inspired Hitchcock's film."You're talking about someone that's been known as the best thriller director of all time," Forman says. "And we're talking about a man that's revered across the board. ... We're not remaking the Hitchcock movie. Not at all". Although the producers remain optimistic, the project hasn't progressed past the script stage and according to Fuller, a deal is "very far away".
Okay...let me see, that falls under the title of re-visualisation then does it?...I just don't see any good in this at all.

Simone, "Rebecca" (which as you know I have seen) is based on a novel by Daphne Du Maurier (1907-1989) who also wrote "Jamaica Inn" and a short story called "The Birds", all filmed by Hitchcock.
I have not seen his version of "Jamaica Inn", I understand it is not one of his better pictures?
"Frenchman's Creek" and "Dont Look Now" are other of her writings that made it to film.
There was actually a sequel to "The Birds", "The Birds II:Land's End" made in 1994, directed by the great Alan Smithee. Have you heard of him?

This is retarded. Next thing you know they'll be trying to remake Kubrick or Leone or other all-time great directors.

yay! i am REALLY looking forward to this remake.
Oh how the original was riddled with problems, it was unrealistic, you could tell the birds weren't there and that they weren't really attacking. Also the suspense was overdone. Now lets re-do the movie, using over the top special effects that will dilute both the story and the actual suspense.....
arrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh. when are the hollywood going to realise we the movie going public want to be entertained with a new movie.
Not REMINDED on what the remake is sadly missing. usually everything and somethings even spoiling the experience of the original.

The Birds was already remade I think back in the 90's. It was a Showtime or an HBO film I think. I don't remember much about it. Has anybody seen this or know what I'm talking about?
Wait a minute, let me check IMDb...
I think the film I'm talking about is the sequel that was mentioned in an earlier comment left by Morbius. So...nevermind.

I don't know, might be a good thing because when it is released and it loses money because todays audience won't see it as the die hard film fans like us will be boycotting it and those who never saw the original don't give a bird's crap about birds attacking humans. When it loses money than the ass-clown who keeps greenlighting these remakes and sequels that should never be will hopefully lose his job to someone who incorporates original ideas. So I think maybe it will pay off for the audience, just as soon as the studios lose enough money to stop listening to the remake guy. Other than Peter Jackson ofcourse, lets see what he does with King Kong.
