Reubens has Pee-Wee's next 2 big adventures all stroked out

Remember Pee-Wee Herman? Well across the Internet highway at Cinematical, you can learn more about Paul Reubens and his already drafted screenplays for Pee-Wee's next two adventures.

In a recent Q&A; in Hollywood, Paul Reubens confirmed that he really does have two new Pee-Wee Herman screenplays ready to go ... first is described as being about Pee-Wee rescuing the kidnapped "King of Cartoons" ... The second script is very much not for kids, and has long been presumed to be "a veiled satire on what happened in Reubens' own career." In Reubens' description, Pee-Wee gets out of prison (Try not to spend too much time thinking about Pee-Wee in prison – trust me, it's disturbing) and, quite logically, "joins the lumberjack community." He then cuts a hit single, but rewards the passion of his fans by heartlessly turning on them.
What do you think? Is there room in our lives for more Pee-Wee Herman, or is this nails one and two in the coffin of Reubens somewhat refurbished career?

Since his "spanktravision" scandal and incarceration, Reubens I feel has done a good job of reminding us that he can still act, and it doesn't have to be Pee-Wee. He first reintroduced himself with a small role in Batman Returns, then making his presence more known in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (both in 1992). I think it was his work in Mystery Men (1999) and Blow (2001) which solidified our exceptence of Reubens and not typecasting him as Pee-Wee or a public masturbater. Reverting back to the bow tied child may be a dangerous move, but then again; what the hell is he doing now anyway?

I was at this Q&A;, it was for a screening of Pee Wee's Big Adventure at a theatre here in L.A. The screening sold out so fast they added a second show, which also sold out. There are a lot of P.W. fans so it might be time for another flick. People forget what a classic Big Adventure was. Not only funny but very stylish and an incredible soundtrack.
But, lets not forget there already was one sequel - Big Top Pee Wee - which was really, really bad. If he does do another, lets hope it brings back some of the original's majic.

It seems to me that Spongebob Squarepants has cut into the demographic that would be interested in this. I can't explain it, but to me there is something similar in the silly humor of the two characters. Kids who never saw the original Pee-Wee might see him as somewhat of a Spongebob rip-off, just not in cartoon form.

It is amazing to me how little young people today know about even the very recent past......
