George Romero To Direct From A Buick 8

Well look at this, George Romero is directing something other than a Zombie flick. But don't worry, it's a Stephen King adaptation called From A Buick 8, so it's probably still within the horror genre.

To be honest I miss those good old Stephen King novel adaptation horror flicks. It'll be nice to see Romero take the helm on this one too. I think we could be looking at some very special stuff here (at least from a noveltys point of view.

The good folks over at Cinescape give us the rundown on From A Buick 8:

The story centers on a state trooper who is killed on the side of the road. The man's colleagues try to help his son cope, but when the boy discovers his father's dark secret in the barracks' back shed, things start to stir not only in the shed but in the hearts and minds of the veteran troopers who surround him. The troopers of Pennsylvania come into possession of what at first appears to be a vintage automobile. Closer inspection and experimentation conducted by the troopers reveal that this car's doors (and trunk) sometimes open to another dimension populated by gross-out creatures.
Delicious! Oh man I can't wait for this one. I think it's got "fun" written all over it. If nothing else is should supply some good giggles along the way too.

Romero and King are joined at the hip. Romero did King's THE DARK HALF, CREEPSHOW, he's going to do THE GIRL WHO LOVED TOM GORDON, and Stephen King had a cameo in Romero's bizarre KNIGHTRIDERS.

Its actually a touching tale of a young man trying to come to terms with his father's death and the understanding that some things in life are never explainable or understandable.
