Deathlok gets Derailed Director?

One of the many Marvel projects Deathlok may be getting the Director of the Jennifer Aniston and Clive Owen movie Derailed, Mikael Håfström. IMDB are still carrying the Director as Paul McGuigan (from Glasgow in Scotland - Yeah!), although they do say he's off the project.

According to Comic Book Movie, he's no longer associated though and it looks like Håfström might be going for the chair, although the Weintseins might be fighting for his time.

I'd love to see Deathlok make the big screen, personally - and not just because of the Scottish connection - I'd prefer McGuigan to direct. His past movies certainly look the part. Who do you think should be directing this one, and who should play Deathlok themselves? Here's the blurb for the movie:

A man unwittingly finds himself the subject of an experiment which slowly turns him into a cyborg, with computer and robotic parts replacing nearly his entire body...

Interestingly David Self is rewriting the script, he also wrote Thirteen Days and Road to Perdition.

Not a big fan of 'Derailed', but that film was not only miscast with Clive Owen in the lead, and Håfström telegraphed the twist of the film too soon. He did give a provocative part to Jennifer Aniston, and she did a fairly good job. Vincent Cassel has played swarmy bad French/Eurotrash before, but...he does it well.

The concept of the character pre-dates RoboCop and Terminator, but audiences have seen it all. There might be some great action and cool sci-fi involved, but something else has to be brought to the table. A new spin, some back history, and if there is any characterization and plot, fight the studio like hell to keep it.
