Bend It Like Beckham 2

It seems like Bend It Like Beckham 2 may well be on the horizon... although it would have some obsticals to overcome first.

The writer/director from the first Bend It Like Beckham film, Gurinder Chadha, says she wants to carry the story on. However, as the good folks over at filmfodder point out, it may not be that easy of a task to pull off:

Getting together the original cast today might be hard, as Keira Knightly has become increasing sought after/expensive. Meanwhile Parminder Nagra has a steady gig on ER, which might be hard to shoot around.
Personally, I think it would be great if these big stars remembered where they launched their careers from and came back to do another one... but who knows... maybe even the idea of a sequel is a bad one and they should just leave well enough alone.

Hmm, I liked "Bend it Like Beckham", but this strikes me as a movie that could do without a sequel. However, if the story is good, I'll recant.

I loved the first film, and while it may be interesting to see where the characters are now
note that one of the big plotlines of the first film was the lead character having to keep playing league soccer a secret from her family- as well as a romantic intrest in her coach.

Do the characters go to college and play the big games?

But the big advantage is that Parminder Nagra and especially Keira Knightley are getting up there in name value. As for Miss Nagra, an actor going into/back to/appearing in theatrical films is nothing new. ER is a big cast. If there's a good story involved, the cast returns, it's worth checking out.

Oh, and one last thing. both ladies are smokin' hot.

I liked the first one. I can't see doing a second.

I second what Donna has to say about this film idea.
