Quake follows Doom?

Quake2.jpgMore questions this morning with the news through dtheatre that the guys from Id Software are, and have been for a while, thinking about a Quake movie!

In an interview with SCI FI Wire, id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead revealed that he and his company were discussing a film version of the popular video game "Quake" even before the whole Doom debacle...Hollenshead says that he is still interested in pursuing a feature film version of "Quake," regardless of whether "Doom" is successful.

"It won't make much difference to us, we see everything independently," Hollenshead told SCI FI Wire.

Game wise I really loved playing the Quake games, there always felt a lot more to them rather than slick looking arena type battles. To be honest there's just as much material in the Quake premise for a movie as there was in Doom...although that's probably not saying that much really. Here's what he said on the premise:

"The challenge for Quake is what to draw from for the movie," Hollenshead said. "Quake 2 and 3 are very different, and Quake 4 is kind of a prequel to 2. So for a movie, we will probably draw from the Quake 2 and Quake 4 universe—an alien race from another planet that has attacked the Earth. That sort of thing."

That was easy then, good pitch. If anyone is looking forward to Doom, would you be looking for a Quake movie too?
