The Star Chamber remake

Actually this is remake news that has me interested, although I am still quite aware of the perils. The classic movie The Star Chamber starring Michael Douglas is a great movie, I really liked it, and the news from Coming Soon is a remake is in the works.

20th Century Fox, Hyde Park Entertainment and producers Matthew Baer and Frank Spotnitz are teaming on a remake of Fox's 1983 film The Star Chamber, says The Hollywood Reporter.

In the original, Michael Douglas starred as an idealistic judge who, frustrated by having to let dangerous criminals go free because of legal loopholes, joins a secret society of judges bent on taking justice and punishment into their own hands.

Now it could go either way here, we could be seeing a stylish remake of an already good film, or it could turn into The Pelican Brief and throw stars at it. Have you seen the original? Which way do you think it will go?

I've seen the movie a few times. As a kid, I just thought it was a dumb movie, but as an adult I think it is a great picture & a great story. I don't think it needs to be remade, but if they do green light this, it has to be dark, brutal & violent. Joe Carnahan would seem like a good choice as director.
