Pop Idol movie!

Yes, you read that right (those of you who venture this far down the list of posts that is!) the talk from that reputable and never rumour moungering paper The Sun through The Guardian is just that.

Simon Cowell, BMG Records executive and notorious American Idol and X factor judge, is preparing a movie about the ups and downs of wannabe stars hoping for their moment of fame.

According to The Sun..."It will feature two people trying to make a name for themselves in the music industry and all the heartache that goes with it," said Cowell. "One of the lead roles will be British, the other will be an international name."

"One of the main roles will be available for an ordinary person. We will hold auditions up and down the country to find a talented young actor or actress for the role."

Oh dear lord...having caught (accidentally while channel surfing I have to admit) X-Factor on telly in the UK last weekend I was thoroughly appaulled at the pathetic and belittling excuse for TV that we're being offered nowadays. The last thing I want to see is a movie based on the same rubbish.

However, we may want to calm down a little. It's a movie tracking their attempted rise to fame, not them going through a TV show, so it might be a little more real. Perhaps we should wait and see before binning the idea?

Great. Not only has reality tv turned television into a "girls and effeminite men only zone". Now they're going to spread the disease to the movies?
