Flightplan Reviews

Deep down I wanted the Flightplan reviews to be positive. I like Jody Foster and was hoping Flightplan would be a vehicle to reassert herself in the Hollywood sphere. But right from the first trailer I has a feeling it was going to crash and burn (get it? Flightplan is on a plane you see... and I said "crash and burn" hehe... oh shut up).

So now the early Flightplan reviews are flying in (get it... the movie is called... oh never mind) and it looks like it never achieves lift off (Oh man I'm on fire today!). Here's what some of the critics are saying:

"The third act begins with another twist — but this one is so arduous, absurd and out of character for the film that the entire plot, stretching back to Scene One, is sabotaged"
Rob Blackwelder, SPLICEDWIRE

"Only the audience gets hijacked in this turkey, and the final destination is tedium.*"
Stefan Halley, HERO REALM

"Flightplan never attains liftoff since its basic premise is never made credible, even for a minute."
Steve Rhodes, INTERNET REVIEWS

So there you have it, not exactly promising is it? As of right now Flightplan has a 29% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. So basically the critics are saying Roll Bounce looks almost twice as good. That's not good at all.

And anyone who misses out on this film is crazy. I thought the film was well crafted, and acted.

Potential is felt from the go, but the plot is convoluted and nonsensical. I'm glad I saw it in a "rush hour" show. Definitely NOT worth recommending as a film, though some of the acting was quite good.

i havent noticed any reviews mention the political aspect of the movie. Perhaps I am misreading but the whole plot can be seen as an allegory to the blind authority-following US public's response to Bush's policy (ie stumbling, not very smooth anatgonist, take advantage of anti-arab paranoia, uses authority and position to pull one over everybody). Anyone else see that connection?

Personally I don't understand all the negative reviews, I thought this was an excellently crafted movie, one well worth seeing. The acting was credible, and the plot line was plausible. I thought everything was well rounded and there weren't any fantastical twists. I especially appreciated the reference to our modern society, in regards to the anti-Arab/Muslim/Islam/etc. attitude in the wake of all the terrorist attacks. I do however, think it could have ended better on this issue. The last time we ever see it being addressed is when the Arabs get attacked.

But lighten up cynical folks! If you continuously bash movies, where's the incentive for producers to keep making them? Why don't you make your own movie and see how much people hate it? Honestly.

I personally did not think that Flight Plan was all that bad. I mean yes there were parts where you just thought, come on now, but it is a movie so it is not all suppose to be believable. I thought Jodi Foster put on a great performance, very believable. The movie did have you guessing the whole time, it kept you thinking…is their a daughter or no? I will agree that it may not of been the best movie I have ever seen, but was definitely not nearly the worst one either. Overall, I think it was a good movie, but I would of lived waiting for it to come out on video and renting it.
