Cool J and Timberlake as actors

After the movie Edison both LL Cool J and Justin Timberlake are trying to keep their singing and acting careers separate, particularly Cool J who says over at Jam...

"I've achieved basically all of the goals - by the grace of God - that I wanted to in music," Cool J said Saturday after the film was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival this weekend.

"And my new focus is in acting. That's where I'm putting the majority of my energy."

I have to say I'm usually with John on the idea of "singers" (and I use that term losely to describe those other than the two above) becoming "actors", however if you think about it, many of them are actually performers and their playing a role already. Perhaps they are acting already, and it just depends if they feel they can move it across to the big screen...and I do believe in Cool J's case he can and does. It'll be interesting to see if Timberlake can.

They star alongside Morgan Freeman, who doesn't seem sure who they are...

Morgan Freeman was asked if he was aware of the music careers of Cool J and Timberlake before signing on to the Edison cast.

"Naw, to tell you the truth, I never heard of either one of them," Freeman deadpanned to laughter from the audience.

"You kidding?" he then added. "Of course!"

It'll be interesting to see how Timberlake does. Cool J? Well I think he is cool, and does well onscreen.

I liked LL Cool J in most of his roles. Don't care much about Timberlake.

LL Cool J has the right attitude. Saying he is going to concentrate on acting rather than a duel career. If true then he sounds like he is serious about acting.

As for Justin. Anything that keeps him OUT of the recording studio is good news

I think LL has a decent screen presense when given a role with good plot and good supporting actors. As for Justin, if he does begin acting, I do not forsee his characters ever going past a sappy down and out looking for love...I just cant see him as an action star or anything comparable to LL in the sense of singing actors!!!
