Tom Hanks Elected Vice President of Oscar Academy

If you ever had any doubt how well respected Tom Hanks is in the film community, then you shouldn't anymore. Hanks has just been elected as the Vice President of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. A huge honour to be sure.

I still marvel sometimes at the career this guy has had. Who would have ever thought the guy dressed in drag for that short lived TV show "Bosom Buddies" would end up being a multiple time Oscar winner, Vice President of the Academy and probably one of the most powerful men in Hollywood? I didn't. Congratulations Tom.

Couldn't agree more about "Bosom Buddies". Whenever I see Hanks, I still think of him wearing a wig and shoulder pads, hiding in a Murphy bed.

Bosom Buddies was so much fun and who would have thought his career would go so far? I didn't, but I'm glad it did.

What does the VP do or is it an honorary thing?

Now, will this be a conflict of interest should he be nominated again, I wonder? Tommy ain't stupid. He's going for statue number 3!

Oh yes, I am waiting for his 3rd Oscar too. Almost had it in "Saving Private Ryan".
