The 40-Year-Old Virgin Reviews

40VirginPoster.jpgThe 40-Year-Old Virgin is probably the comedy I've most been looking forward to this summer. The premise sound like it has a lot of potential for laughs, and so far I've never seen Steve Carell go wrong. The 40-Year-Old Virgin dos carry the danger of just being an "American Pie" for older folks... but I'll take my chances.

So far, the reviews coming in are mostly quite positive (which is rare for this kind of comedy). The only thing that matters to me in this sort of film is "does it make me laugh a lot"? According to the critics so far... it does. Here what they have to say:

"You are hereby advised not to bring an actual soda to the comedy, because you'll laugh so hard you'll spit it out all over the seat in front of you."
Phil Villarreal, ARIZONA DAILY STAR

"One of the funniest movies ever made."
Joshua Tyler, CINEMABLEND.COM

"The 40 Year-Old Virgin is buoyantly clever and amusing, a comedy of horny embarrassment that has the inspiration to present a middle-aged virgin's dilemma as a projection of all our romantic anxieties."
Owen Gleiberman, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

Well sign me up! As of right now The 40-Year-Old Virgin is carrying a 79% on Rotten Tomatoes. Pretty impressive for this kind of comedy. It'll be the first one I see this weekend.

I just went to the premier showing of it last night, and i havent laughed so hard in a movie in soooo long. i couldnt belive how funny it was. for a couple of years, comedies havent been what they used to be. i've been wishing i could see jim carreys movies for the first time agian just becuase they were some of the funniest movies i'd ever seen. i just saw wedding crashers and i laughed pretty hard and i thougth that was gonna be it, but this one just blew the whole theater away and my cheeks still hurt from the constant enjoyment. everyone was howling. definately see this one. i'm glad the critics thought so too. this movie could have flopped big time or it could have soared and it soared. man i love that guy (steve carrell) he was halarious in anchorman (probably the best thing) and i remember first seeing him in anchorman and thinking..wow, this guy is fantastic, he's doing exactly what jim carreys doing. so i think this movie will set sail his career.

cheers

I just had to add this as well... there was a crying baby in front of me for 1/3 of the movie and the mother would not take it outside and the husband was too huge to do anything, he was stuck in his chair with his tray of food. that boiled my blood. and i meant to say that i saw steve carrell first in bruce almighty, not anchorman.
