Robert Redford and Paul Newman reunite

RobertRedford.jpgWow, this would be amazing news, although it's so late in coming. The prospect of having the two greats Paul Newman and Robert Redford on the same screen, in the same film, is just superb. Obviously the material will still have to be good, but these are two of the greatest actors out there, how could it not be badgood? From Coming Soon:

"All these years went by and nobody came up with any ideas that were anything but corny and kind of low grade so we just decided probably that wasn't going to happen," Redford said.

"But now there's something rolling around that we're talking about it, and the real question is whether he can remember his lines or not," the 68-year-old Redford said in a dig at Newman who turned 80 this year.

The two will reportedly pair up in an adaptation of Bill Bryson's travel book A Walk in the Woods, the story of the author's hike through the American wilderness with a friend...

..."I think Paul and I are probably alike in that we're reluctant to talk about something that is not real yet, but we are talking about it,"

How great is that news? Would you be looking forward to seeing these two on screen again?

"...how could it not be bad?" Rich, I don't think that's what you meant to say. Remove either the "not" or the "bad" and it would make a little more sense.

Anyway, my mom is a huge fan of Bill Bryson, and I read A Walk in the Woods, and can guarantee you that it would make for a great movie. It's about two guys who walk the appalachian trail, and Bryson ahs this great observational sense of humor. He's kind of like Dave Barry, but a littl more realistic. My only concern is that these two are not who I picture in the roles. As I recall, both guys were supposed to be out of shape, and I don't think these guys could even play that. I really hope this won't sacrifice the book in order to get them on the screen together. As much as I'd love to see them together, the book deserves to made into a good movie.

Jon, well spotted...I did either mean to not have that "not" in there, or say "good" instead of "bad"! I'll change that now!

umm, isn't this old news? i remember reading about this ages ago, possibly in the times screen section. nyway, it's great news imho. the two were superb in the sting, and it would be nice to se themply off each other again. tht kind of chemistry seems to be getting more and more rare in this day and age.
