New Doom trailer

Big Fucking Gun!"Aye, we're all doomed!", no, not Dad's Army but the latest Doom trailer, and in a watchable format this time.

The first person gimmick is gonna wear real thin I can tell. What do you think of this one, any better? The opening on Mars (they've definitely changed back to Mars now) is quite nice, and the creatures are well done. It's also dark, very dark!

Check out the trailer at Yahoo movies through Coming Soon.

The effects look like crap, and the FP effect annoyed me in the trailer. Will I be able to stomach an entire movie full of it? Me Don't know!

From what I've read, the first person sequence is one long, single section within the film that they've played up in the trailer to show that the film at least has one thing a little different to other action movies. If that's the case, it sounds like it could be a very good, unique section of an otherwise generic film. Surely that's a positive aspect, not something to write off at this stage?

I don't really like the first person thing either. It looks too much like a video game. Not that video games are bad, but I don't think it really works for a movie.

DVD rental! :)

Ha Ha Ha! Now I know you are all going to hate me for this, but I think it actually looks like fun. Of course that depends on the point of view. Is it going to be first person of random members of the squad? Is it going to be first person as the Rock? Or will it be something we have yet to see - the audience as the first person? Now that would be cool! You are on the team, and you get to join in on the action. It's the game why fight it. If it is done well it could be really cool.

CG looks like crap. What's wrong with having some visceral-looking monsters? What's wrong with having a story? Ugh.

DVD rental, indeed.

I was very skeptical after reading up on this movie and how the main premise was dropped for something more stomachable for the target audience...namely the portal from hell to Mars being subsitured for a virus infecting humans (which i still think is dumb). That being said, the trailer actually lookis kind of cool. That first person shooter sequence will be something new and actually looks inviting is a weird sort of way. The movie does look like it borrowed heavily from the Alien movies but it still looks half ways decent. I dont know...gonna have to see it now...maybe it wont be as big a let down as we all think. And except for the Scorpion King, all the movies the Rock has put out have been pretty damn entertaining.

is it just me or does this look like the ripped half of it from alien ressurection

Isn't one of the signs of the end of times for there to be movies shot in First Person format? This looked horrific.

if anyone has played the new game, Doom 3, on PC then you will agree with me on this - that game is one of the most intense and scary games i have played. some sequences where monsters are jumping out of staircases just as you walk up them, the lights being turned out in a room you know is crawling with bloody zombies. i think, in that respect, the first person could be really good.
i am however very disappionted to hear that they ditched the 'Hell' origin for a complete rip from Resident Evil, 28 days later, and any other recent zombie related movie.

You all suck. i saw doom last weekend, and guess what? It didn't suck! It wasn't extraordinary(whadda ya expect from a vid game flick?), but it was at least entertaining. That's what a movie is supposed to be.
