Is Steve Carell Evan Almighty?

Bruce Almighty was a really fun film. It was one of those films I had low expectations for, and ended up loving it by the time I walked out. Now it appears that the producers were keen to make a Bruce Almighty 2... however... Jim Carrey took a pass on the project and decided to not get involved. So thanks to the timely popularity of Steve Carell, all may not be lost.

The producers had the script reworked to have the film revolve around character Evan Baxter (Carell) from the first film and redub it "Evan Almighty". No, I'm not kidding. And honestly... I could see this working. The good folks over at Empire give us this:

They've come up with the idea that God somehow winds up calling on Evan to build an ark in preparation for a great flood. Don't ask, because we don't know any more than that yet, but there's more good news - Morgan Freeman is set to return as God, and Tom Shadyac will make himself comfortable once again in the director's chair.
If this is indeed all true, then you can count me amongst those looking forward to it.

Steve Carell is great! Since the Daily Show I have enjoyed laughing at the way he get awfully excited and his dimwhitted nature. I have been very pleased to see him make a name for himself recently and I must agree with John on the anticipated anticipation for the new news -ya get all that-. I can see the premis and it sounds funny.

I for one was a semi big fan of Bruce Almighty. For one I live in Buffalo NY, and it's not to often we get locations in films and TV. The only bad part is that they actually didn't do any filming in Buffalo. Sure that took footage of Niagara Falls and HSBC Arena, but everything else was all a lie. It didn't even look like Buffalo in the movie.

The cool thing is, if this picture gets the greenlight, and it is set in Buffalo again, I'll be one of the first in line to be an extra. Hey mabey I can get a few sneak peeks for TMB?

The ark idea is kind of iffy to me, but other than that i'd actually go and see this!

I did not like Bruce Almighty at all, except for the parting of the tomato soup and Steve Carrell.

After seeing The 40 year old Virgin (pulled a side muscle because I was laughing so hard), I would definatly wait on line for this one. I hope it gets made (they should change the title to "Evan's Ark").
