Rush Hour 3 recasting?

ChrisTucker.jpgLooks like Rush Hour 3 is still on and without the great and might (sarcasm included) Chris Tucker.

Thanks to Chris (not Tucker) for the link to Moviehole who are saying:

...according to Jackie Chan, speaking at a press conference in Beijing yesterday, he's definitely coming back for "Rush Hour 3".

According to Monkey Peaches, Chan said he expects the film to be one of his next four pictures, with filming likely to commence sometime in the New Year...

...The trades did mention a while back that the studio hasn't got a problem re-casting the movie - if the stars aren't available...

Brilliant, so we get to see Chan on screen at least, albeit watered down Hollywood Chan it's still Chan! I say re-cast, the movie doesn't hinge on Tucker or his character. What do you think? Mind you, the only originals will be the Studio and Chan what with Ratner gone as well, that's a point, should they wait for Ratner?

how about Chris Rock

This might be a good opportunity to reinvent the franchise with a different 'buddy' rather than another motormouth black guy. Maybe someone like Danny Aiello again, or Stallone or Pavarotti.
Seriously though, you could develop a different type of contrast if Jackies partner was a different character not just a different person.

long time reader, first time commentter...(feels like talk radio)...

I like the Chris Rock but if you are going to do a different person - get DeNiro or a woman partner...

like Halle Barry...

did I mention Halle Barry? she might not be able to carry the comedic role in a movie but she'd be awesome to look at...

if you are going to change the character then what about DeNiro? Too big? maybe...

or a woman...

like Halle Barry....she might not be able to carry the comedic load but she'd be fun to look at for a couple of hours.

This is all a scare to make Tucker realise they will move on without him unless he smartins up.I'd say theres a 95% chance it will be Tucker...(and you can't change the character of series at still expect the same thing).. What would Lethal Weapon be with Chris Rock instead of Mel Gibson.. enough said.

Oh God yes, they must have Ratner back for this, otherwise, the artistic integrity of this franchise will be in jeopardy.

ROLLS EYES.

How about having Eddie Murphy

Posted by: Chris Rushworth at July 15, 2005 12:57 PM

oh my god.. that could work.... Tucker is very similar to Murphy, and its not like Eddie couldnt use the work..

I'm not saying that Chris Tucker should have been acting like such a primadonna, but I do think this movie will fall flat on it's face without his character.

Rush Hour 3 should be about Lee finding another partner, because Carter was murdered, and uncovering his death. Lee's new partner should be one of the Wayans brothers. Marlon at the most cause of his funny personality. Shawn because he more cop material. Damon because he can be serious and hillarious at the same time. And I really don't think Keenan-Ivory would play the role because he's been producing movies. But Marlon at the most.

Eddie Murphy could do. But then I think Deniro could make a perfect partner for Chan. The only thing is, is Deniro's to serious and Chan is no a comedian. So it wouldn't be to big of a comedy.

I say if you want to give Chan an annoying motor-mouth partner, grab Keenan or Kel. You know the to boys who's show actually was funny. But it's just my thought, don't laugh.

What a relief. Amazing Tucker could think the audience was paying to see him.

Any of you seen New Police Story yet? Jackie back in action, so sweet.

good point re: Jackie needs comedic partner...

soooo get Owen Wilson - call it Shanghi Hour 3

Give someone else a chance. How about Chevy Chasehttp://www-direct-tv.com

Whats wrong with u people. If it doesn't have chris tucker then its not rush hour, he made that damn movie. Rush hour is rush hour because of Chris not because of Jackie. So fuck everyone else and fuck u.

Chris Tucker is the one that made that movie good. That movie was funny because of Chris all Jackie did was fight and do stunts. If there not going to use Tucker then they should scrap the whole movie.

is chris tucker on drugs?

Posted by: candy at August 14, 2005 09:58 PM

The movies were good and both actors portrayed their characters very well...Jackie was for stunts and Chris was for laughs. The movie will not make it if Chris does not return. Sure, you could cast some other comedian...but who is going to be able to take Carter's character to the hieght that Chris did. "Do you understand the words that are comin out of my mouf!!!"
