Uwe Boll for Postal videogame movie?

UweBoll.jpgI caught this snippet of news over at Eurogamer and was shocked that Uwe Boll was still being associated with projects considering his name is against so many at the moment, and especially for videogames. Have a look at his IMDB list:

Far Cry (2006) (announced)
Fear Effect (2006) (announced)
Hunter: The Reckoning (2006) (announced)
Night Claws (2005) (announced)
Dungeon Siege (2006) (pre-production)
Bloodrayne (2005) (post-production)

Alone in the Dark (2005)

House of the Dead (2003)

There's his videogame directorial list, although I'm not sure if Night Claws is a videogame adaptation, but still he's got a lot on his plate, so it's a real surprise to hear that his name is being touted against a film version of the game Postal.

Legendary German director Uwe Boll is in the running to pick up the movie rights to Running With Scissors' equally legendary PC first-person shooter title Postal, according to a report on movie website Dark Horizons.

By "legendary", of course, we mean "rubbish" - and you can also safely assume that by "director" we mean "talentless mentalist". You could probably also swap out "PC first-person shooter" for "experience on a par with driving nails through your own soft body parts", if you're really keen on the truth.

Boll's special hobby is torturing game fans... He's also just finished filming a BloodRayne movie and is gearing up to thrust his creative talent into the quivering flesh of the Dungeon Siege franchise. Be afraid.

Postal, though, we can honestly say we don't care about, since it's just as rubbish and pointless as any of Boll's films.

I do like their writing style over there, big nod. Is anyone a fan of Postal and concerned about what could happen to this game? (I suspect there won't be many) More to the point aren't you concerned Boll is still filmmaking?

I could see postal being fun to watch. It's not a terrible game or a terrible concept. I mean it's like grand theft auto 1st person, without the cars. Wel the way I play grand theft auto is really the same as postal, just running around shooting people.

Isn't that what Uwe's movies are anyway? Mindless shooters? I think he can handle just having some guy walk around shooting people, hitting them with shovels, and other things.

If I had to pick one game that UWE might not be able to screw up, it would be Postal. Simply put, it's got no potential no matter who directs it, so you might as well let the guy who just likes violence direct it.

I wouldn't have my hopes if his credits for video game movies are house of the dead and alone in the dark. I didn't see alone, but house of the dead was awful.

Accept in GTA you can't piss on your victimsafter you kill them....

The game was crap and the film will most likely be as well.
GTA isn't all about killing people, it has an entertaining story. Never original, as Vice City was ripped from Scarface, San Andreas from a variety of movies, but it ws interesting and entertaining nonetheless. Postal was: KILL, KILL, KILL, WHY? DON'T ASK!!!!!!

i'm a gamer and i've never even played postal but i herd about it, and it sounds like one of those games that has no plot or story. it's like the last game any director would chose to make into a movie.

a tetris movie makes more sense
