The Lost Boys gets female remake

More mindless vampire action in a new script which remakes the classic The Lost Boys but with girls. Oh, I forgot one thing, instead of a gang of juvenile delinquents, they are cheerleaders. DONK! That was the sound of my head hitting the table. From Rope of Silicon:

It had been rumored for a long time, and it seems the female version of The Lost Boys will finally make its way to the big screen as Genevieve Jolliffe and Andrew Zinnes have penned a script for Absolute Angels, a teenage horror-comedy following a lonely goth girl who gets invited to join the high school cheerleading team only to learn the cheerleaders are actually a pack of vampires.

Looking at the biography of these two writers you're struck with the blankness of it all. There's not much there, and Jolliffe is also slated to direct. This just reeks of awfulness. Any Lost Boy fans out there outraged?

Holy crap! Nothing is sacred - nothing. Honestly, I can't even veiw this as a Lost Boys remake. I see it as another bad idea.

We need someone to reinvent the Vampire movie genre because it's gone straight to hell.

I don't get it. Why would this even need to bother with calling itself a "remake"? Different title, different gender, and it also looks like this will be an entirely different screenplay... so they could just say it's a high-concept teen flick that's inspired by "The Lost Boys". In fact, one could simply pitch this as "'Mean Girls' meets a female version of 'The Lost Boys'".

Oh dear god, Joel Schumacher will shoot these people before production starts. This is going to be a complete butcher job.

I am a huge fan of The Lost Boys, I have 2 copies of it on VHS, and I bought the anniversary special edition DVD last year. Schumacher did a great job of portraying the Vampire pack as sexy and cool. I mean you wanted to be a Lost Boy, you wanted to move to Santa Carla "The murder capital of the world", you wanted to meet a girl like Star, and make nasty love in a cool cave/club with a big poster of Jim Morison on the wall.

This movie will be a complete joke, and the only hope for true justice would be a counter creation which is done correctly. With Kiefer Sutherland in it!

First of all, it seems like a different movie to me. Secondly, "Lost Boys" is NOT sacred. It was a good little eighties movie. Casablanca it was not. Maybe this one will be better-- yes, even without the Coreys. Though I do realize some of you would rather see a pack of pre-pubescent men (and Schumakers homo-erotic undertones) over cheerleaders.

I AM writting the real LOST BOYS 2 ALL original cast members ,only 13 years ahead in time . it is DAVIDS resurrection and i bring back all the boys except Marco, {Alex Winters ] died. If i can finish it.it will be as great as Lost boys 1 but even more Evil and greater images of the vampiers ready to break open hell ,on Michael and STARR .There can not be a movie ever made that can live up to the orignal LOST BOYS but I sure am going to try .I have been writting this for 5 years. WISH ME LUCK BRENDA STARR {lost Girls ?} oh hell NO!
