Fantastic Four cast tied to sequels

FantasticFourGroupPic.jpgWell it does look like everyone is going sequel crazy, and with the Fantastic Four the studio are really hedging their bets. Comic Book Movie have some news from the stars at the movie premiere:

The four, Ioan Guffudd, Chris Evans, Jessica Alba and Michael Chiklis, have signed for three films over 12 years if this year's incarnation is as successful as expected.

"But it's not contracted that way," said Chiklis, aka The Thing.

"It really is," said Alba (the Invisible Girl).

"From the first day of pre-production to the last day they can release the third film is 12 years max."

"Bloody hell, The Thing's going to be walking around with a cane," Chiklis laughed.

Well I wouldn't worry Chiklis, they can throw someone else in that suit quite easily. Still that's a long time to tie people in for the movies. If the movie does badly then they can have a long cooling off period before another attempt, and if the movie does well, then they can start on the next one and repeat. Sequel anyone?

12 years is a long time between 3 movies. At most, it should be around 3 years per sequel. Anything longer or shorter would be overkill.

I love this talk of sequels before the first movie has even come out.

Daredevil anyone? Elektra? Hulk?

Come on, Marvel, get a grip.

Then again I might be stunned and it'll be a winner, but somehow I think it will be a weak, live action version of "The Incredibles".
