Colin Farrell to remake The Robe?

I've written before about my love of the Sunday afternoon epic TV movie, in particular movies such as The Robe with the great Richard Burton. They're so much entertainment, big stars, huge plots, classic stories and long. Perfect for a Sunday.

News is coming from Digital Spy that Colin Farrell shares my same love and wants to do something about it.

Farrell would take the role of Marcellus Gallio, a Roman tribune involved in Jesus' crucifixion, where he acquires his bloody robe.

Sky News quotes the actor as saying: "It's one of my favourite films...and done right they can be great entertainment and appeal to all the right audiences. Besides, I have great legs for a toga."

It's not conclusive evidence that he's on track and wants to get this made, but I do hope it comes about. Farrell would be great in one of these big roles, and if they can inject what they did in it's first outing to this remake then I think they are set for great movie.

Do you think it's right to revisit some of these old epics, or is the only reason that they are so well received and remembered because of that timely formula?

I'm at odds. The Robe was a really good movie, and it might be a long enough time lapse for this remake to work.
