Batman DVD Boxset coming

batman6.jpgLet's face it, there really are only two Batman movies, Batman and Batman Begins, the rest were, well rubbish.

So is it really exciting news to hear that there will be a big boxset released with all the Batman movies in one...Well, except the latest Batman Begins, with all new special editions. The news from DVD Times through Comic Book Movie

According to DVD Times, the first four Batman movies (Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever and Batman and Robin) will be released in special editions coming this October.

...The new and improved DVD's of the original Batman movies include newly-recorded commentaries (Tim Burton, Joel Schumacher, etc.), both old and new featurettes, and trailers.

New unreleased footage from Batman Forever is also rumoured to be included as a director's cut running about to two and a half hours.

There's two things here, firstly they are really trying to sell the movies on the extras here, considering they are awful movies bar one. The second is that they are going after the cash, hoping people will buy the boxset now and then the five-way boxset when Batman Begins joins it. Will you be buying this? Are the extras really making it a worthwhile package?

Hmmmm... that's interesting because in FutureShop (The Canadian version of Best Buy) has the Batman box set already available. I saw it in there yesterday and thought to myself "Who the hell would buy that".

maybe it's not as special as the one they're talking about.

Yeah, I don't think it's the "all new SE" boxset.

god i hope they don't do a box set that includes batman begins. because i feel they should keep batman begins far away from being associated in any way with these shitty films!

I can vouch for the Batman Collection on sale at Future Shop. Its just the DVDs collected in one box. No special editions.

I imagine they are selling off the collection in a box in order to clear their stock out before the "better" editions are available.

But do you really think they will group Batman Begins with the other movies? They seem so different.

In my mind there are 3 major motion pictures for Batman.

1. Burton's Batman. -Dark, borderline cartoony but gritty. The amount of comic relief makes it hard to take serious.

2. Schumacher's Batman. - A tribute to the 60's Batman, and everything glows or has club lighting on it. Adam West thought it was cool. Joel Schumacher becomes the JarJar of the Batman Franchise. For a 3-4 year span no one dared consider making a superhero movie after this guy got his hands on one.

3. Batman Begins. - The way it was supposed to be. REAL, Dark, Gritty, believable. If there really was a Batman, THIS is how it would be. No magic powers, mutations or supernatural. The villians could actually exist. Sure, its fiction so he can jump off buildings fearlessly, so its not ALL real, but its believable.

either way i get shafted. buy it now i get the 4th batman which i hated, buy them seperately and waste money or wait and wait and wait for the new batman to join but i would have to wait. hmm, tough choice..cant decide yet

Batman Forever was the only good/watchable movie from the first four. The possibility that a director's cut is in the works is an exciting possiblity.

You are kinder than me - I only found the first one of any worth.

Batman Returns is the greatest comic book film ever made.

Well... I just ordered the Boxset. Personnaly, I found the two first movies (Tim Burton) good. But since thaht in a store in Quebec, the Boxset cost only 5$ more then buying two movie seperatly, I think it is good. I really liked the new one (Batman Begins) really cool. Dark, move then Tim Burtion version.
