Star Wars invades Formula 1

F1-Coulthard.jpgThe Monte-Carlo Formula 1 Grand Prix is this weekend and it promises a lot of thrills. Despite the controversy (and clearly wrong) banning of BAR Honda from the race, there's still lots to be seen. Ferrari are not dominating and the pack is open to a number of possible winners, and the super fast F1 cars take to a street circuit promising a lot of sharp intakes of breath - Ralf Schumacher has already fallen fowl of those barriers in 1st qualifying.

Whatever you think of F1, there is something special to be seen with the Red Bull Racing team. They've totally rebranded the car with the Star Wars livery, a huge Darth Vader rests across the front, and Star Wars adorns the car all over with the words...

Powered by the Dark Side...

...on the sideboards. It does look pretty awesome, and going to the official site and choosing Back from the Dark Side, Storm in the Lane or The Force is unveiled from the gallery will show you some of the excellent shots of the car. Not to mention Vader, Chewbacca, Stormtroopers, R2D2 and C3P0 wandering around. During qualifying they were standing in the garage with the engineers and pit crew screaming away as Coulthard set a blistering pace.

More pictures are in the Star Wars comes to town section at ITV F1. Well worth a look you Star Wars fans. Sorry we couldn't get the pictures here, all copyrighted.

Okay, well apparently the Dark Side wasn't much use to Red Bull either, with Coulthard getting shunted by Schumacher and forced retirement.

At least there were Star Wars characters galore there.
