Lassie returns with Peter O'Toole

Lassie was banned in our house, being lovers of dogs and of animals in general we soon found that extended to films about any kind of animal, Orca was the final straw for us. So it goes without saying none of my family will be watching this new Lassie film, for no other reason than we'll all bawl like babies!

The BBC have the news that Lassie is to return to our screens and the great Peter O'Toole will be starring.

Peter O'Toole and Samantha Morton have signed up to appear in a new Lassie film, to be shot in Ireland and the Isle of Man later this month.

Lassie, directed by Britain's Charles Sturridge, will also star John Lynch, Jemma Redgrave and Steve Pemberton from TV comedy the League of Gentlemen.

The cast also includes Rab C Nesbitt star Gregor Fisher.

Really not for me I'm afraid, but can anyone see this movie doing well? A dog that manages to make people understand them and saves lives...well...?
