Katie Holmes for Mission Impossible 3?

Also check out Rotten Tomatoes Mission Impossible 3 or FilmForce Mission Impossible 3

KatieHolmes.jpgYou have a lead female role, Lindsay Lohan or Katie Holmes? Well the one I'm reported to be sleeping with of course. Moviehole have the story.

Tom Cruise is rumoured to have coaxed current squeeze Katie Holmes into playing a role in "Mission : Impossible 3". And not just any role - the lead female part, says Ananova.

Errm, isn't there a bit of a clash there? Apparently so...

Lindsay Lohan is apparently gunning for the same role Holmes is chasing. Keri Russell and Elisha Cuthbert ("House of Wax") are apparently being eyed for roles too.

Oh dear. Lesser of two evils I think, and you have to choose your girlfriend, otherwise your life wouldn't be worth living! What about that casting choice though, okay Holmes is a bit better with some more acting experience, but has she escaped the Dawson image yet?

I don't think Katie is that great or versitle as an actress. I think Elisha is the best actress out all of them and has the most sex appeal to generate some heat between Tom and herself. The rest pale in comparison. The rest are rather one dimentional or immature as actresses to pull of a badass female lead or to stand on her own against Cruise.

Hasn't it been pretty well documented that being in movies with your girlfiend/wife/mistress is a bad idea?

Look at Gigli!

And while Eyes Wide Shut wasn't that bad, it was Kubrick's weakest film in my opnion, was it the curse of the actor-relationship? (Cruise/Kidman), we may never know.

i knew it all along..its just all one big publicity stunt, the fixed relationship with tom and katie...just the same with angelina and brad. hollywood sux, it used to be good back in the day when there were only a few famous people, now anyone and everyone can be famous for something and be in any movie. down right crap if u ask me. if only i were ruler of the world...my how things would change...mwahahaha MWAHAHAHAH hahaha ha..... ha ....

I thought Tom was seeing that other Latina actress?

This is obviously just a fling on Cruise's end.

Why not just throw in Hillary "Tubby" Duff, too, and bring this trifeca of MTV Movie Awards fodder shitiness full circle?

Posted by: Franklin at May 24, 2005 06:44 AM

It's getting ridiculous.

Tom my man, have some sense!!!!

Posted by: Simone at May 24, 2005 06:47 AM

so instead of carrie-anne, you get either katie holmes or lindsay lohan instead.

and instead of scarlett johansson, it's elisha cuthbert (or wanna bet that jessica alba will take this away from cuthbert too?)

originally philip seymour hoffman was going to be the villain. but now it's kenneth brannah.

next i predict jj abrams will be out, replaced by renny harlan.

@franklin

the mtv movie awards should introduce a new category: most convincing heterosexual performance.

So is this a romantic lead? Why stop there Cruise, get em younger. How bout the Olsen twins, no wait nevermind to old now.

They'll settle on Dakota Fanning soon.

It would appear that I'm not the only one who thinks the Cruise/Holmes relationship is a farce. It seems like a bad move on her part. I don't like her as an actress, but she appears sweet and right now she's living out a girlhood fantasy. And Cruise looks like he's going through the sterotypical middle age crisis.

As for this whole MI 3 debacle - gah - it just needs to die. It's turning into a casting nightmare! I think if JJ Abrams goes through with this he's going to ding his shiny career.

Bad mistake this decision if it comes into fruition. Why do they need a female lead?

Oh well...

Posted by: Simone at May 24, 2005 03:08 PM

WTF? This is taking it too far.

Posted by: Cotter at May 26, 2005 05:38 PM

I guess all of you who just "knew" it was a publicity stunt were wrong. Holmes didn't get MI3.

Thank heavens for that! ;-)
