John Carpenter to direct again

JohnCarpenter.jpgLooks like John Carpenter is set to return to directing after producing the remake of his old movie The Fog, according to Zap2it:

John Carpenter will direct "The 13th Apostle," his first movie since 2001.

Carpenter ("Halloween") was drawn to Paul Margolis' "Apostle" script, which was submitted to his "John Carpenter Presents" mentoring program, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Margolis is a television scribe whose credits include several episodes of "MacGyver."

In "Apostle," a Pittsburgh detective investigating a series of murders joins forces with a stockbroker to go undercover in an Internet serial killer club.

Sounds interesting, but do you think Carpenter can return to his previous form and break the recent run of not so good movies? What's your favourite Carpenter film, I have many...but my favourite line has to be "I've come here to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and I'm all outta bubblegum"!

HAHA Richard, that IS the greatest line!! For me it's a tie between The Thing and They Live. The Thing still is one of the scariest movies ever. And They Live just rocks on so many levels.

I liked Escape From New York but it dosent hold up as well as The Thing....I would like to see the Fog...is it any good? Just as long as he dosent do another Ghosts of mars......but They Live was enjoyable.

They Live is up there for sure....Love it....

I also enjoyed the original "The Fog" and was creeped out by "In The Mouth Of Madness"...

He's definitely been missing it lately though...

"Assault on Precinct 13", closely followed by "The Thing". But the music for "Assault..." clinches it, as well as those silenced bullets tap-tap-tapping through the windows and office blinds. Classic stuff!

Yeah! Someone mentioned the Prince of Darkness! I loved that Carpenter film. That, The Thing, They Live, Escape from New York, all excellent movies.

Wow, I can't believe I forgot about Mouth of Madness!! I loved that too! I remember seeing it for the first time in college. I was on acid when I watched it and totally freaked out.

'Big Trouble in Little China' is by FAR his best film. It's also Kurt Russel's best performance ever.

Damn it. Big Trouble in Little China is probably the best of the bunch. That's a superb movie. Totally agree with you Trysop.
