Jean Claude Van Damme's Kumite gets Crushed
You know what... I'm probably one of the few human beings on the planet who has actually been looking forward to Jean Claude Van Damme making a comeback to the big screen.
Yes, I know he's still been doing small films here and there, and some straight to video stuff... but I kinda miss the late 80's brainless action genre. Just after Sly and Arnold, Van Damme was the poster boy for that era.
Things were looking up when rumours started flying that a film called "Kumite" was being produced. However, the good folks over at MovieHole have dashed those hopes. Here's what they have to say:"From what I've heard they are no longer shooting Kumite, so I guess you can say that's a wrap. Jean Claude is working on a new project in Europe somewhere", says co-star and co-producer Michael MacDonald.
"Kumite", which was set to return the action star to his martial arts roots, was to be set against the backdrop of the most brutal and elite fighting tournament in the world, The Kumite. Vic Latour (Jean-Claude Van Damme), the only westerner to ever win two successive Kumite tournaments, returns to defend his title after years of alcoholism and despair, overcoming great odds to achieve greater glory. Hmmm... sounds like it was almost a sequel to Bloodsport (which also would have been cool... if not also really dumb).
Oh well... don't give up Van Damme... you may be dumb as a brick, but when you do your little splits move... I still cringe.

van damme is the greatest and it is great that he is coming back to the big screen he is always great in all his movies like wake of death,Double team,replicant,in hell he is so great and sexy .

Van Damme could make a come back even without Kumite happening.His last two flicks were theater-worthy,and some of todays action stars have yet to rival his world box office clout of movies like Timecop,Universal Soldier,Street Fighter,Double Impact,and Hard target.Action films need JC back.

Jean claude van damme is one of the best martial artists.he did great movies in his early years,like bloodsport, kickboxer,double impact , cyborg and lion heart. I hope that we will see the film kumite as soon as possible.

I am unhealthily obsessed with Van Damme, he is not only the best fighter but a decent actor too, much more talented than Schwarznegger or the disgusting Steven Seagal. I really wish he'd make a comeback, cos it's really hard to talk about this guy from the 80's with my friends who only know about male celebs like Jesse McCartney...

Jean claude is the best fighter ave ever known.in hell,double impact,the quest and knock off is my favorites. his style impresses me alot and wish i could be like him. lt8!!!!

Jean-claude van damme is the best fighter, simple as that! I've been collecting everything of him since my childhood. I'm from Belgium and I've had the honours of meeting him. It was really great, it was at his last wedding in Belgium, he was standing in the middle of the church waiting for gladys to arrive and I just took my chance and just asked a signature. And Yes I got it! I've also done an interview with his trainer Claude Goetz in Brussels, he showed me around in the his Gym where van damme trained. And i really think it would be fucked up if they didn't make kumite, i would really like to see it!!! VAN DAMME IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST!!!!

van damme i hope im ure reading this ure the best in the west bro, i am only 14 i got every one of ure movies they nice and realistic fight scenes when i saw no retreat no surender and black eagle i swear to god i was crying me uncle were teasing me i was only 5 years old but ure best but wat happened with the monk i really want to see u and jet li film together ure both me best

Hi my name is 'lubos' and im from czech republic and i have 2 say that i watched van damme's movies since my childhood. my favourite films of van damme are kickboxer,bloodsport,double impact and of course universal soldier. i think he's great but still not the- best,LOL, but as a actor i would wanna watch some more of his movies. thnx!
ps - he's got some bad ass kicks in the air! lol
by the way can any1 tell me, only if they know, wen is 'the monk' supposed to come out?

look,in my opinion,i see that jean claude van damme is one of the best action actors untill now and he is always only 44 years old.
Anyway, i want to say "Happy Birthday" Jean Claude because the 18th of October he will be 45.
The most beautiful film i have watched is MAXIMUM RISK done in 1995 because he did a great role with the best actress in my opinion The white Canadian Women Natasha Henstridge.So i hope that the same duo will make a new action film soon.

van damme is cool,he have done great movies like bloodsport,kickboxer,lionheart,hard target,universal soldier,he has his own very cool style he is the best ,he has to return to meke this kind of movies again thanks
