X-Wing for sale, full size
We've posted about the full size Alien and Predator before, but this is taking the biscuit. Ladies and Gentlemen (and John who will no doubt be starting a site scheme to buy one) let me introduce you to full size X-Wing.
Yes, that's exactly what I said. Full size. It's on ebay right now, thanks to engadget for highlighting it.
Back in 1995, 20th Century Fox Germany and Lucasfilm contracted 9 of these to be made by a company called Pana Sensor in Frankfurt. They were to be part of a worldwide promotional tour highlighting the THX release of the original Star Wars Trilogy on home video. Because of a truck wreck several years ago, only 8 of these ships still exist......These incredible life-sized replicas were constructed from fiberglass, wood, and plastic, all placed over a steel frame. When fully assembled the X-Wing measures 28 feet long, 20 feet wide, and about 10 and a half feet tall. Total weight is approximately 2000 lbs.
Now, if only I had US $85,000 to buy it now...

It sucks that the S-Foils don't appear to close. X-wings never appear in landing configuration with the strike foils separated in the films. There is even some debate about whether their landing skids would allow it. I doubt that I would pay 40 grand for a yard-size model that would STILL offend purists (even if I HAD 40 large) and not look right "parked". After all, the ONLY way to display this would be in the driveway next to the minivan.
Reaper, Out.

Geek alert.
This is not "life size". Watch the hanger scenes in Episode IV and you'll see that the X-Wing Luke climbs into/out of is MUCH larger than this.
