OC Star joins Pacific Air 121 (Snakes on a Plane)

Snake.jpgWell the casting is hotting up on the previously titled Snakes on a Plane movie, I still can't believe that pitch line went through. From Production Weekly through Coming Soon:

The OC star Benjamin McKenzie has joined Samuel L. Jackson in the New Line Cinema Pacific Air 121 (aka "Snakes on a Plane"), reports Production Weekly.

Directed by David Ellis (Cellular, Final Destination 2), the horror-thriller stars Jackson as an FBI agent on a long quest to bring a ruthless mob boss to justice. He finds a witness and takes him on a commercial flight from Hawaii to Los Angeles. Trouble is, the mob boss has loaded the cargo with all kinds of venomous snakes. The rookie pilot (McKenzie) and frightened passengers must band together to survive.

I still think this sounds totally ludicrous, but that's why my big production company has never had any hits. Ahem. Does anyone find this getting vaguely interesting, and why could Jackson have signed up for this?

Well, actually, I do. A little bit more than vaguely, even. The plot seems so far out and ridiculous that it there just might be a really good silly fun kind of movie. Besides, I like David Ellis work sofar, at least those two you listed, so. Yeah. Lookin' forward, how odd that might seems

It's SNAKES! On a PLANE! With Samuel L. Jackson!

What more do you need to say in a pitch meetting?

This thing got Green Lighted for one reason: $10,000,000 million to SAM and......SAM! SEE....a decade later and we are still feeling the effects of the words...."Its like "Die Hard" on a plane,Boat,ect....."

They greenlighted it because they wanted to hand Sam his paycheck? Hardly. As John is always fond of saying they are a business, and they have to recoup their money, so they must believe that they can get their money back.

I really doubt they will on this one, unless there's a huge plot line we've just missed.

Yes, this is filiming in Vancouver, BC.

A young boy I used to babysit who is now about 8 years old named Daniel Hogarth apparently has a rather large role in the movie, the typid that is considered "break through" and "starring" for a kid his age.

Seems bizzare. But we'll see.
