Kate Winslet joins rude Little Children
I saw this story yesterday and skim read it and moved on, more fool me and my apologies to the interested parties out there, I can't believe my eye missed it. Thanks to JoBlo's excellent headline Winslet likes Porn, I somehow read it.
Kate Winslet is looking to star in a new movie titled LITTLE CHILDREN. The movie is an adaptation of Tom Perrotta's book and revolves around a suburban town where seemingly perfect parents raise seemingly perfect children. When the sun goes down, though, these seemingly perfect people surf for internet porn and have torrid affairs.
Oh, sounds like a great movie opportunity! Actually I have a lot of respect for Winslet these days. I liked her to start out with, then she went off to Hollywood did Titanic and went all trim and model like then I mentally wrote her off. However, to her credit, she returned to my radar with an excellent performance in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and I was hooked again. This should be another off the beaten track role for her and it sounds promising. Are you a Winslet fan, or can you not stand her since Titanic?

She was soooo good in Sunshine. She just made you fall in love with her. I was crying at the end of that. I felt like such a girlie man.

Haven't been big Winslet fun ever, but after seeing Eternal Sunshine (althougt the movie wasn't that great in my book, only 3½/5) it came clear that this is great actress. Haven't really seen much of her films beside Eternal and Titanic, but she's great actress with lot's of talent. If I have to make my decision only based on to the Eternal Sunshine, I would say she's one of the best five actresses working on film industry right now.
This film can be pretty good, the idea seems little bit like Virgin Suicides. Teens who show up to be something else than they're hoped to be. Good opportunity to make nice film.

LOL @ Rich. How come we never get to see a photo of you here eh, Richie boy?
I also liked Kate in "ESotSM", and again, in "Finding Neverland". I heard she was also good in "The Life of David Gale" opposite Kevin Spacey. I really would have wanted her to play Lizzie Bennett than Kiera Knightley in the "Pride and Prejudice" movie.

Kate Winslett had a great debut in 1994(?) Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures=well worth a look for fans who've come along later...

Kate Winslet is amazing. I was mesmerized when I saw her in Heavenly Creatures. That movie was directed by Peter "Lord of the Rings" Jackson - and he deserves the credit for finding her. If you haven't seen Quills, Holy Smoke or Hideous Kinky, check them out. Also - I bought the "Little Children" book when I heard she was cast in it and let me tell you it is amazing. It is freakin hilarious and Kate is perfect for it.

Same here, had written her off after Titanic, but that performance in Eternal Sunshine (easily the best film of 2004, and so criminally overlooked at this year's Oscars) was brilliant...
