Colour Me Kubrick starring John Malkovich

ColourMeKubrick.jpgFrankly, I have no idea what this is about, and I was even more confused when I saw John Malkovich appear. This movie just totally slipped by me, so thanks to John (not Ed John) for the link.

You have to watch this trailer from CineMovies for Colour me Kubrick. It's funny, well I giggled through a couple of bits and then had a great laugh at the closing line from the nurse. Check it out, then come back and find out what it's all about courtesy of IMDB:

The true story of a man who posed as director Stanley Kubrick during the production of Kubrick's last film, Eyes Wide Shut, despite knowing very little about his work and looking nothing like him.

There's a few big names in that cast list too, this could turn out to be a nice little hit. Does anyone know any more on the movie?

This is up there with King Kong and Hitchhiker's on my most wanted list, it looks wierd, and that's right up my alley.

It sounds like a Spike Jonze/Charlie Kaufman movie. That it is a true story makes it even better.

Sign me up for this one. I absolutely love John Malkovich.

Title of the film not very original as its already been used in an album before. Well, not "Colour Me Kubrick" of course but "Color Me Barbra".

Anything with Malkovich should be a worthwhile project. I am still kicking myself for not having seen "Sheltering Sky"- has anybody here seen that?

It's actually been up on IMDB for a long time. What's new to me was the long trailer and the US release date May 4th 2005.
Let's hope it is going to get released.

Sheltering Sky - Fantastic and unpredictable. Quite Exotic...There is a brilliant Campbell Scott performance in there as well.

Run, don't walk...

Why thanks for that Triflic, I have the book for donkey's years but I can never seem to concentrate.

John Malkovich almost always makes interesting film choices, but keep an eye on Marc Warren, a phenomenal actor who gets only a fraction of the recognition he should, and isn't at all well known in the U.S. He was brilliant in Peggy Woolcock's 'Pricipals of Lust' and in the BBC production of 'Oliver Twist' as Edward Leeford. Can't wait to see him in this.

Some of the dialog in The Sheltering Sky can change your life. Of course the delivery by John Malkovich as Port Moresby makes that possible.

I think I'm going to have this put on my gravestone:

Because we do not know when we will die we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well. Yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number really. How many times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, an afternoon that is so deeply a part of your life that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more? Perhaps not even that. How many times will you watch the sun set, perhaps twenty? Yet it all seems so limitless. --Port Moresby (John Malkovich) in The Sheltering Sky (1990)
