Tarantino To Direct Next Friday The 13th?

As strange as that title looks... it's true. I have begrudgingly become something of a mild Quentin Tarantino fan over the last couple of years. Don't get me wrong... I don't personally think the guy is "brilliant" or anything... but you can at least count of the fact that his movies will have an awful lot of style to them (good or bad). You see, I like filmmakers that have a distinct flavor to them. They make films that you instantly know are theirs even before reading the credits. "This feels like a Tarantino film".

Tarantino has also demonstrated that he isn't afraid to do the unexpected. All these things put together is the reason that I'm feeling cautiously optimistic about this news coming forth from the good forth over at Filmforce:

Oscar-winner Quentin Tarantino is in final negotiations to write and direct the Ultimate Jason Voorhees Movie, an all new Friday the 13th for New Line.

Tarantino's production company, A Band Apart, referred us to the William Morris Agency. A rep at WMA would only advise us that Tarantino has "not yet" been offered the job while refusing to elaborate any further.

If there's any (ultra-violent) filmmaker who could make Jason cool and scary again, it'd be the man who resurrected Travolta. I just wonder if the movie will be retitled Kill Jason?

Oh golly. If this is indeed true, you bet the bank that we're probably in store for the most action and violence that any 13th movie has ever given us. Which makes me smile.

Can I just say "Oh dear God no" to the very thought of this? This truly is even less necessary than the Wicker Man remake.

He he he he...I also had to look at the time it was posted, John's was there first, I was thinking, "wow great minds do think alike in that one"! *winks*

oh my god.... ugh, i mean, who really thought From Dusk 'till Dawn was good? this is a bad career move.

Quentin Tarattino is an awsome movie director. Who better to direct it than him. He is probably the most creative and imaginative director today in the movie biz. Classics like Kill BIll and Pulp fiction. He is on top of his game.

It's too early for April Fools Jokes

I liked From Dusk Till Dawn. It wasn't the greatest movie ever but it was fun and entertaining. And anyways didn't R. Rodriguez direct FDTD? I think this would be awesome if it turns out to be true.

There is really no one who can say that this would be a bad idea, to have Quentin direct, I mean come on the movies lack a serious edge and the series is so unimagined, bring in Tarantino and leave the rest to him, franchise reserrected.
But lets not get to excited yet if you all remember Tarantino was supposed to direct Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers and that fell apart and now just look at the crap left in it's place

You guys are stupid I'm sorry. Did you stop to think the movie might not even be about Jason? What if he's just remaking the first one? Jason wasn't even in it.

Rebekah- Who was killing the people in the first one?

Posted by: kelly tippett at March 22, 2005 07:55 PM

I would kill to see a F13 movie by this guy.

Jason's mother was the killer in the first one.
