Samuel L. Jackson to star in "snakes on a plane"?!

samjackson.jpgOh I remember writing this post and having a good old laugh about it. The blurb for the movie is ridiculous, however looks like I might be laughing on the other side of my movie ticket.

Coming Soon is carrying the news from Variety that they've renamed the film to Flight 121, and there are a few people associated with it that might not make is such a laughable entity.

The film was originally written by John Heffernan and most recently rewritten by Sebastian Gutierrez (Gothika).

Okay, does bode not too badly for the scripting.

...to be directed by David Ellis (Final Destination 2, Cellular)

Now that's not too shabby either.

Samuel L. Jackson is in talks to star...

No way! Oh I could be eating that post at this rate. Jackson doesn't tend to star in too many stinkers. This has gone to a completely laughable one liner to a possible big starring movie with a decent script and direction. Here's the current write up:

Jackson plays an FBI agent on a long quest to bring a ruthless mob boss to justice. He finds a witness and takes him on a commercial flight from Hawaii to L.A. Trouble is, the mob boss has loaded the cargo with all kinds of venomous snakes.

Not really that different from the original post blurb. I presume Jackson signed up either because there are good golf courses where he is filming or that the script is actually pretty good!

No, you had it right the first time. I don't care what big names they get, that is a completely laughable plot. Do we really need an Anaconda/Passenger 57 mix? I think not. No more CGI snakes! Let them go.

Wait, that writer and that director.. that is a good thing? Heh.

By the by, if Sammy L. had not been in Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown, then there would be no Samuel L. Jackson, as far as I am concerned. Not one with any kind of credible acting career at least.

This sounds like Turbulance re-dux.

Anything re-dux will be dull; sans Tarentino's efforts

What are you complaining about? You either want to see this movie or you don't. The title doesn't hide anything. Its snakes. Snakes on a plane. If that doesn't interest you, then don't expect something else. This film is bubble gum, it isn't deep or inciteful. Its snakes on a plane.
