Ryan Reynolds to play Flash and maybe Deadpool

Looks like the spate of comic adaptations isn't slowing any, as you'll see from today's news. First up is that of Ryan Reynolds currently seen in The Amityville Horror remake. According to FilmRoach through Coming Soon he's been talking seriously about two Superroles.

'FilmRoach' tells us that The Amityville Horror and Blade: Trinity star Ryan Reynolds said today in Los Angeles that he will star as The Flash if the project goes ahead.

Not only did he say he would love to play Deadpool, but he confirmed that he had a meeting the previous night with David Goyer, and if Warner Bros. green lights his script, he said, "I am the Flash."

Cool, good news. Flash would be a fun movie to see (again, the usual caveat of "if it's done right" applies), and Deadpool was one cool character that I always liked as a kid. Surely that's all the good news we could bring on that one? Yes actually it is, there's only bad news.

Blade: Trinity writer/director and Batman Begins writer David Goyer has committed to write, produce and direct the feature adaptation of DC Comics' The Flash.

Oh dear. Hands up if you think this is going to be a stinker? What does everyone else think, would they like to see these two characters on screen? Actually, if they were going to take any one character out of the remaining pool of Supes, which would it be and why would it make a good movie?

ummm. after the utter disastier that was blade: trinity, how can they allow goyer to write, produce, ad direct a fan fave such as the flash (at least i aassume he's a fave)?

on the plus side, from the justice league cartoon, i can defintely see ryan being the flash.

all we need to do, is blckmail/talk goyer down to just writing, sticking to what he's good at.
how about offering him a first shot at the goats of odin screenplay? :)

on the other hand, maybe he's learnt his lesson. but do you really want to take that chance?

My vote goes for THE AUTHORITY, but only if they do an adaptation of Millar's brilliant first arc (collected in trade in "Under New Management").

The last really good thing David Goyer did was Dark City this could be bad. Ryan Reynolds is a really good choice for the Flash though.

I like the possible casting of Ryan for Flash and could be okay with him as Deadpol. I'll totally be into seeing both movies if they're done well....of course, that's always the way of it, hm?

I'm seconding the suggestion for a Danger Girl or Gen 13 movie - that would rock - if Hollywood wouldn't run a muck over them. Could you see Hollywood turning both those movies into a complete teen nightmare?

I love the fact they're brining the Superheoroes to life, but at the same time I get nervous. I want them to be good so bad and when they're bad - it's horribly disappointinng.
It like a direct shot at the creator - We like the idea of your character, but we think it'd be better another way. And then they screw it up.

A balls to the wall Secret Wars movie would be fun, but most likely impossible. Wait nothings impossible anymore.
I wouldn't mind seeing a cool Astro City movie, and John Byrne's Next Men would make a fun trilogy. Most of all, I would love to see an animated feature film of Pete Bagge's "HATE". Now that would be a dream come true.

My god, no one has mentioned Silver Surfer! That would just be superb if it was lovingly recreated with a big budget and huge effects!

I was just about to Richard before you beat it to me again!

actually there was talk of a danger girl movie ages ago. guess we know that never went anywhere.

silver surfer is an obvious choice, being one of th eonly "big" comic properties that hsan't been plundered. Sadly, i don't think they could ever pull it off. the look it just too odd for anything except animation. a guy decked out in silver surfing in the sky? :) unless i've bene getting the wrong end of the stick from the few cartoons i've seen him in.

most important for any comic adaptation is to keep the creator involved.
that's why sin city is looking so good.

Silver Surfer would need to use a ton of animation, so they might as well just make it all animated.
The Avengers would be nice, as would a Green Lantern film.

I think reynolds would make a good Flash, and as far as other super hero movies there is always Aquaman...MY GOD! WHAT AM I SAYING?!
