Elf 2 in the works?

elf.jpgI know he doesn't appeal to everyone, but I'm a huge Will Ferrell fan. Now, having said that, I must admit that I wasn't all that thrilled with Elf. Don't get me wrong, it was pretty cute, but it lacked something.

Word on the street is that the machine is in motion trying to get an Elf 2 into production. Here's what the good folks over at Cinema Blend are talking about:

According to Variety, Elf star Will Ferrell is currently trying to talk New Line into backing up the Brinks truck to secure him as the star of Elf 2: The Wrath of Leon. The good news there is that New Line is committed to getting Will on board before they even consider a second film; the bad news is that they’re considering a second film...
Ouch. This is a bad idea. Like I said, the first Elf was a pretty ok movie... but a sequel would be a disaster. Move on to fresh material Will.

Agree with you this. It's not that Elf lacked heart because it had that, and humour and setups... but, what it did lack was a rhythme to dance to imo. It lagged in the middle. It was sorta like the middle was more busy than the middle and the end held more emotional draw than all the other parts put together. It was uneven at best. And most of its gem factor came from Buddy's experiences where dialogue wasn't written or spoken. Wil Farrel is an awesome physical comic. Buddy should have been allowed to explore more in pantomime. I loved Buddy's wide-eyed innocence when he discovered something new (the radiator) and something old (the snowball fight).

Sorry, let me try that one again. I'm very tired tonight. Long day. :-)

Totally agree with Lilly on this, The whole wide eye wonderment was the wonderful part of the movie. I did liked the middle but they seemed to be a switch to a different tone movie half way. Its a wonderful movie that will be on my Christmas Watch list every year, but they isn't anything left for him to discover. We ended with his new family, but now he knows both his old and the new world stuff. THE END
don't think that any of that made sense(hope it did)

The first one didn't get good until about half way through. The first half was too "kiddie" for me.
