Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Prequel

CrouchingTigerHiddenDragon.jpgI just loved Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I thought it was one of the most delicately and beautifully told stories on film that I've seen in a long time. It probably should have won Best Picture over Gladiator that year... just my opinion.

Word is now leaking out that the Prequel trend is still going strong with Ang Lee setting his sights on a new Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon film. The good folks over at Monsters and Critics offer us this:

Ang Lee is making a prequel to box office hit "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." The prequel will follow the young Li Mubai and Yu Xiulian, played by Chow Yun-Fat and Michelle Yeoh in 'Crouching'. Filming is due to begin this summer in Yunnan Province of southwestern China.
The unfortunate part of this is that I doubt Chow Yun-Fat or Michelle Yeoh can be in it (age issues). Still, I really enjoy Ang Lee's work (yes... I even liked The Hulk).

This is a funny story, the first time this film came out in 2001 I was actually the one who "advertised" it for all my friends to watch with all the buzz as to how brilliant a film it is, but did I get to watch it, no. (Fair enough we were moving from Wales to London at that time)

Then it was released on DVD and I was among the first to get my copy so you can guess I would have seen it by then right, but did I? Again, no. *laughs* I saw "House of Flying Daggers" last year but not "Crouching Tiger" which has been in my shelf collecting dust, and now they have a sequel in the works.

Crumbs, this is telling me something.

Simone, you need a movie night! :)

Simone you probably should go a week without posting on this site and actually watch a movie, and talking to your boyfriend john. lol.

John This is a really good post. The best one you have ever done. But I dont know if I can take you so seriously if you keeping posting stuff about cartoon and comic book characters. I thought this was a movie blog, where we discussed real movies. Seems like every other movie post is about x-men, spiderman, batman and robin, or the latest teen action flick. Dont take my word for it. Its just a thought.

LOL @ Bugee Has it been that obvious I am here all the time? Shheeesssshhhh

Actually, I am always out to watch a movie in the cinema almost every week, I go from watching 3 in a day most weekends. As for missing "Crouching Tiger" I only have myself to blame, I keep putting it off. But yes I will do this very soon and contribute more to this discussion.

Meli, I might watch Crouching Tiger and Moulin Rouge back to back! *winks*
