Clive Owen for Bond?

CliveOwen.jpgOkay so this could swing either way, and it does class as straight gossip and conjecture, but hey, we never said we were beneath it!

Coming Soon are carrying news from IESB that Clive Owen may be confirmed as the new Bond. Yeah sure I hear you say, and clicking onto the next post, but this time there's some footage and an insider suggestion that it's happening.

we asked him about the rumors regarding James Bond. "Yes or no to Bond," we asked. He said this while nodding his head 'yes', "I will be busy for a while" and then our colleauge next to us asked again, "any truth to the James Bond rumors?" "I'll be busy for a while," he repeated with a grin and smile.

Tenuous indeed, you can go and view the interview and decide for yourself. To me this looks very much like a man laughing at the rumours and just answering something to keep the press going, but I could be wrong. You could look at it that he is genuinely excited but can't say.

A few minutes after that quick interview I was approached by a person/colleague that works with Clive and he/she stated that Bond was a done deal and that an official announcement by the trades is being brokered.

Well whatever is true, it won't be long for us to find out, the article suggests it's only a few weeks away from an announcement. Oh get on with it already.

Does he get a nose job with the 007 gig? God, that thing is big! Well, wonder what he'll bring to the table........we'll see....he was pretty good in those BMW shorts but I hated King Arthur and couldnt judge his skills....is there anything else he was in that anyone can recommend so I can feel good in my bed at night that Bond is in good hands?

Just to forestall those rumours - I know, I know, we've all heard them - I feel I must categorically state that I am THE ONLY BRITISH MALE NOT CURRENTLY IN NEGOTIATIONS TO PLAY JAMES BOND.

Sorry to disappoint people - I know a lot of commentators believed that now was the time for a slightly effeminate 5 ft 4 Cornishman to play Bond - but it just doesn't fit into my schedule doing body-double work for Ron Perlman in Hellboy 2.

"I'm Bond", "No, I'm Bond"...."I'm Bond"... I can see the ranks rise like Spartacus!

One of the previous posts talks about his other work, like the BMW Films, where he played a character like the that in the Driver game. That was pretty close to Bond, and he was pretty good.

I really could care less if he takes it or not. I am so tired of this Bond stuff!
I like Clive Owen and wish him well in all things he does.

Jason, check out Croupier. That was the first thing I saw him in, and I thought he was awesome! I'm really hoping the role goes to him.

I really hope that Clive Owen does NOT do Bond. I love this guy, he is a great actor, he has an awesome presence onscreen, and hes just all around likeable. If he takes bond, just think about what happened to Pierce Brosnan-The thomas Crown Affair POS>Blechhhhh Please Clive, steer clear of this one, and give it to Yoan Griffud

I actually thought that The Thomas Crown Affair was a good attempt at a remake, and that Brosnan did quite well in that, although essentially he was playing the same character.

Clive Owen has that same great sensitivity with the ladies and macho hardness with the men that Sean Connery had and that is what made the Bond series so great. In my book, there are not any Bond movies worth watching if Connery isn't in them, but if Owen is Bond I will go see it. I think Owen has the same stuff that Clark Gable, Humphrey Bogart, Sean Connery all had. We need more male actors like him.

Thank you Mary, there are some going around pleading for Jonathan Ryes Meyers and he is the exact opposite of Bond. You are so completely correct about what a Bond mand should be, a man. Mr. Owen has the manliness for the role no-doubt.
