V for Vendetta gets a budget and Portman confirmed

V4Vendetta.jpgThis movie looks like it's moving fast, well in comparison to others currently in production anyway. Perhaps it's trying to keep momentum going, and the fans of this Graphic Novel are desperate for it to happen...and happen well.

Movieweb are carrying this story from Variety:

Wachowski brothers sci-fier V for Vendetta has been awarded $818,000 in production support by German film funding body Medienboard Berlin Brandenburg...

The Wachowskis' longtime first assistant director James McTeigue will make his helming debut on the pic, which will star Natalie Portman.

Portman is confirmed and is added to the IMDB listing.

I think this will be a great project - it's nice to see that Ms. Portman isn't shying away from 'genre' projects - this has the potential to be a really good film.
