Nefertiti movie starring Halle Berry

I loved the old Historical and Biblical epics you see on Sunday afternoon, such movies as The Robe, Cleopatra, you know where I'm coming from.

When I read in MovieWeb that a film is in the works to portray the story of the Eqyptian Queen Nefertiti images of these movies flooded into my head, accompanied by Richard Burton (whom I was named after) in full costume. Oh those were the days for some great movies.

According to Production Weekly, Monster's Ball duo, Halle Berry and director Marc Forester are planning to re-team on the story of Egyptian queen Nefertiti, the wife of the great Pharaoh Akhenaten who achieved status similiar to that of her husband.

I do so hope they pile money and production value at this project, it would be amazing to see a modern movie attempt to recreate that big epic feel. It would also be good to see Berry back in something that might bring out her acting talents.

But-but-but, A&E; did an amazing job last year of documenting and depicting Nefertiti and her husband already. It was stellar. I recommend buying that CD online for anyone interested. That's the version I want to love, not some crap with Halle in it.

Piles of money and production values do not a good movie make. ;-)

That is certainly true, but it's a big step towards creating a true epic.

At least with Berry at the helm we'll get to see a woman of color play an Egyptian and not a Caucasian. It's a little embarrassing that those of my race "re-enact" Egyptian history "documentaries" featuring whites.

I have nothing against Halle Berry as an actress but what about Rosario Dawson, I was really impressed with her in "Alexander" and isnt she supposed to be starring in the film version of "Rent"? She would look good as Nefertiti I guess?

cough *Alexander* cough.

Very true Vic. Indeed. However, let's be fair, there are many, many epics that have been made in such a way. Just none of them in current Hollywood!

I guess it's just my own personal taste, but whenever I read of these overly costumed and production-designed historical epics, I think "boring".

Awwww come on Vic, I was talking of Rosario Dawson as an actress and for those who might not be familiar of her work, her stint in "Alexander" came up. *smiles*

I think angela basset should play her, she would be a perfect fit. Not better yet nia long should play nefertiti now that would be excellent.

come you guys! Halle is the girl no man forgets! Nefertiti is supose to be one hell of a beautiful woman...Halle will do her justice. I don't have anything against Angela, but the girl isn't actually a soft looking beauty...Nefertiti's bust shows features of a 'soft' beauty...Halle has her name written all over this one...and the Directors knew it!

Nefertiti

PHYSICALLY--BIOLOGICALLY

HALLE BERRY DOESNT FIT NEFRETTI BUST...BUT ANY WAYS ID RATHER SEE A BLACK AFRICAN AMERICAN PLAY THE ROLE OF A EGYPTIAN BLACK AFRICAN RATHER THAN SEE NICOLE KIDDMAN PLAYING NEFFERTITI...HOW LAME WOULD THAT BE...HELL ID RATHER SEE A ARAB IDIAN OR EVEN CHINESE AS LONG AS THE PERSON IS OF COLOR AND A NON EUROPEAN PLAYING THE ROLE OF AN OBVIUOS NON EUROPEAN...WHATS WITH THIS WHOLE AFROCENTRIC CRAP...U DONT SE CRAP WHEN EUROCENTICS DEPICTED THE BIBLICAL MOSES AS CAUCAISAN WHEN WE KNOW 5000 plus YEARS THE PPL WERE NO WHERE NEAR THE CONVIENTIONAL EUROS...BLOND BLUE EYED...HELL AMERICA DIDNT CONSIDER ITALIANS TO BE EUROPEANS 50 YRS AGO..lol>>
BUT TRUELY ID RATHER SEE A UNDERATED OR FRESH BLACK FACE ACTRESS OR STARTER TAKE ON THIS FILM....HALLE BERRY NEEDS TO PASS ON A LITTLE SUCCESS TO SOME OTHER SISTER...

ANGELA IS A GREAT ACTRESS AND PERSONALle I THINK SHE WOULD FIT THE CHARACTER TO THE TEETH WHERE SHES A STRONG AACTRESS AND CAN PRODUCE THAT SUBSTANCE ON CAMERA....BUT FACIALLY AND BUST WISE

NEFFERTITI COULD EASILY BE PLAYED BY IMAN...
OR SUPERMODEL LIYAY KEBE....
OR TOP MODEL YASMIN WARSAME
!!!
OR EVEN JADA PINKETE (LONG NOSE,HIGH CHEEKBONES, BRONZE ALMOND SHAPED EYES)!!

....WILL SMITH..HE WAS GREAT IN ALI...BUT PHAROH...UMM NOOO>>>>

ALL ELEGANT FEMALES THAT DEPICT THE TRUE IMAGE OF NEFFEITI...

HISTORICALLY...NEFERTTITI HAD TIES WITH EAST AFRICA ..LAND OF PUNT...AND DEPICTED THE PPL ON THE HYROGLIFICS...AND CONSIDERED THEM TO BE IF NOT EGYPTIANS SIMILAR BUT LOCATED ELSWHERE...YASMIN,IMAN,LIYA CAN EASILY FIT THE DESCRIPTION OR CAN PLAY MINOR CHARACTERS SISTERS...THERE FROM THAT AREA..BUT

ID RATHER SEE YASMIN OR LIYA (BOTH HAVE IF NOT THE SAME BUST IDENTICAL BUST) PLAY NEFERTTI THAN HALLE ..>>SORRY WHEN I THINK OF NEFFERTTI I THINK OF DISTINCT EXOTIC ELONGATED STRAIGHT NOSE COPPERED SKIN HIGH CHEEKBONE BEAUTY.. AND HALLE BERRY IS TOO COMMERICAL AND CONVENTINAL.. SHE WAS A BOND GIRL..

THERS SEX APPEAL AND THEREs ALLURING..HALLE GOT THE APPEAL IN THE BAG...BUT CAN WE SEE TANTRIC MYSTERY THAT WE SO FRANTICALLY ASSOCIATE EGYPT WITH....AND ROSORIO...ABSOLUTELY NOT...SHE DOESNT FIT THE BUST AT ALL....AND DOESNT HAVE THE NEAR TENTH OF GRACE HALLE OR ANGELA HAS IN HERE SKILL...BUT JADA WOULD DEFINETLY MAKE A BETTER NEFERITI THEN HALLE...SHES GOT THE DISTINCT ALSO SoMEWHAT EXOTIC LOOK AND THE SKILLS IN THE BAGS...

PERSONALLE I DONT WANT TO SEE ANOTHER CAT WOMEN....

Halle will be a great Nefertiti. To the last poster, you named a lot of beautiful people who could play Nefertiti, but all of the people you named obviously aren't the greatest actors either. Isn't the whole lets get on Halle Berry bit getting a little old. People always underestimate her... In "Loseing Isaha" they said you're too beautiful to play a crack head, and she did it... They said you're too light skinned and you don't look the part to play Latisha in "Monster's Ball," but she won an Oscar for the role. Halle is not an actor who just whims it, she studies...

Not only will her name attract people to the movie, but her acting abilities, and her look will keep their attention there. Nia Long would be a great Nefertiti, and Jada also, but Halle has the part so deal with it. Look at the picture at the top of the page, you can't tell me Halle can't play this part. Movies like "Troy" "Gladiator" and "Alexander" wouldn't have been as big if it weren't for the well known actors who played the leads.

As far as a new actress playing Nefertiti, thats crazy. I won't even address it... I went to an Egyptian website where they discussed the same thing and they all seemed to express that they were happy with the choice. No one knows what Nefertiti looked like exactly, damn Denzel didnt look like Malcolm X, but his acting was so good you forgot about that.... Like I said, Halle is perfect for the part.....

I think that movies like this one helps people that don’t know about this advanced and culture rich civilization to learn something about it. Now whether Halley Barry fits the bust of Nefertiti I don’t know but I would see it.

Nefertiti is said to be one of the most beautiful woman to of ever walked this earth. Halle Berry will be excellent portraying such a beauty. Its agreed upon not only is Halle Berry one of the more beautiful woman alive today but a supberb actress. You Silly Rabbits, who cares if she doesn't actually fit the bust of Nefertiti. Anyways I hope the movie is done well(better than Alexander).
