Ice Cube to take Cary Grant lead in remake

For me this just taking the mickey on the whole remake front. Yes, I know there are always remakes in some form, but where the hell is all the original material? There's definitely a huge swing of late over to the remakes. Anyway, I've hammered on enough about that before. Coming Soon alerted me to the shocking news:

Revolution Studios is in talks with Ice Cube to play the title character in a remake of Cary Grant 1948 comedy Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House, says Variety.

Oh. My. God. I mean I think Ice Cube is fun in some of his movies, and perhaps he can go the way of LL Cool J, who I actually think does really well on screen, but in the lead role formerly played by the great Cary Grant? There's just no way that he could live up to that, never mind the whole movie living up to the original. Surely not.

Ahhh Richard, that line alone made me spit coffee out of my mouth! *giggles*

Tip: Dont drink coffee whilst reading Movie Blog in the morning! LOL

I have not seen that Cary Grant movie they were doing a remake of, but come on, are they really serious about this???

Being an aficionada, I can tell you that this wont work. Ice cube is a decent actor but he needs to stick to the script. Torque was garbage, that was some serious trash right there. He was good in Barbershop, and Boyz to men and glass shield, and players club and dangerous grounds. And of course the Friday movies. That new one he did looks wack. He is only good when playing a gritty character. He cant do comedy and he is dry. He should stick do directing and hood movies because that is where he shines.
